Official Ballon d'Or Shortlist

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Official Ballon d'Or Shortlist

Post by Babatunde »

Seems the one leaked to l'Equipe was false as here is the official one.

Rooney's Old Trafford team-mate Nani, Liverpool forward Suarez and Aguero of Manchester City are the other Premier League players in contention, while former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas also makes the list.

Fabregas is one of eight current Barcelona players in with a shout, and Lionel Messi is the favourite to win for the third year in succession.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are among 10 nominees for the World Coach of the Year award along with Chelsea's Andre Villas-Boas.

Player shortlist: Abidal, Aguero, Alonso, Alves, Benzema, Casillas, Eto'o, Fabregas, Forlan, Iniesta, Messi, Muller, Nani, Neymar, Ozil, Pique, Ronaldo, Rooney, Schweinsteiger, Sneijder, Suarez, Villa, Xavi.

Wenger for World Coach of the Year!!!!
Who makes this stuff up!!! LOL

Probably got it for making it 14 years in the CL. I know we sniff at it but from the outside it must be looke dupon as a brilliant achievement.

Either that or Diaby votes for it.

Diaby LOL

No RVP bit of a joke. Not that it matters as it's a one-horse race anyways...

You're not locking this for ulterior motives are you DB10? :hmmthink: :rubchin:

Although I must say I can understand your anger. I also was stunned - and not a little surprised - to see neither Brazilian Gooner or your good self nominated!!

 Cheesy but I like it.

Anyway again, RVP not being shortlisted just goes to show you what an incredible joke of an award this is.

Abidal? Seriously? Didn't he miss half the last season battling cancer?

Well its voted for by the French so I imagine thats why Abidal features.

Good player but not one I would have shortlisted despite his illness and comeback

if the french vote then maybe Wenger has a chance in his category?

by the way I liked the fact that when an old Thierry Henry goal was shown on the screens pre match last night that all the Marseille fans started applauding :D
