jan signings part 2,000,054

Post by tomkingsbury »

anyone got any opinions on mikel arteta. I have to say i havent seen a great deal of him before or the type of player he is, but he seems to be having a blinder for everton. Also seems comfortable in an attacking position across the midfield, so could he be a useful addition to the squad, or do ya think we dont need him??

Arteta is an excellent player and if we needed his type of player he'd certainly be good enough to be an Arsenal player. To be honest, I can't believe everyone who watches English football doesn't already know about him and rate him highly. If we didn't have Cesc, Hleb, Denilson, Rosicky, Walcott and yes Eboue, I'd love to have him join us but we don't need him.

And for those in the anti-Eboue brigade, this from Bacary Sagna in today's Guardian: "I like playing with Eboué, I think we are very complementary. He can take my place if I go forward. He understands the right-back role and it's double protection for the right-hand side."

So not only is Wenger wrong to be picking Eboue, but Sagna (arguably our player of the season so far) is wrong too.

(PS: This has nothing to do with Eboue's overreactions - we all agree he should cut that out. It's only re his ability and contribution.)

Can Arteta play at centre half? If so we should sign him.
We desperately need some world class cover there and I think the bosses focus will be more on that area and the GK.

I still think that Modric is a good bet to come in January. I believe that it was mentioned that we had a pre-contract agreement when we signed Dudu.

I've said for ages that Arteta is Premierships most underrated player but we don't really need him and Everton wouldn't let him go easilly.
