The football grounds of Bratislava

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

The football grounds of Bratislava

Post by Chips and Chocolate »

Recently went to Bratislava and found a real gem in this (pictures taken by a mate and myself, I still have to get my films developed as I took shots of other grounds as well).

Great pics mate, which ground is that? Did you get to any games? Would love to visit Bratislava, love me a bit of Eastern European football culture!

I knew you would like it Dan ;)
This is stadion Petrzalka, which was home to what is now known as FC Petrzalka 1898 (the club has been renamed 6 times in the last 20 years).
I didn't get to any games as it was during the international break. From what I've gathered all Bratislava clubs are playing at the Pasienky stadion (I went there as well, nothing special... 13.000 seater with a running track around it).
What I'm gutted about is that I couldn't find a way to get in the Tehelne Pole stadion (I took pictures from the outside, it has a massive communist feel to it... loved it!)

I've found a picture of what the ground looked like before the club left for the other side of the river.

It looks better now imo

Sounds awesome. I gotta get back out to Eastern Europe in the spring for a bit more obscure footy. I'm a big fan of Poland, would love to give a few more unusual places a try though.

Infinitely more interesting & exciting to me than Real Madrid, Barca, Milan etc.

Yes mate, i'll be there. Only on a 24hr trip though, arrive about 3pm on the day, leave about the same time on the Wednesday. Really like Athens, was there for the game 2 years back, incredible atmosphere at the stadium.
