The Arshavin Solution
Play him at centre-forward (Striker).
We've seen him be successful there, and he won't have to track back, which we know he hates to do.
This is only when RVP doesn't start, but would be a replacement for the misfiring Chamakh and inconsistent JYP.
Thoughts?

Risky for a league match but I think Fulham might be a good opportunity.

agreed. I said it on another thread, if we had a front three of
Walcott Arshavin Chamberlain
We wouldn't have to worry about arshavin's work rate, walcott is actually very good at tracking back, he does it for england too and is a decent tackler. Ox is quick as fuck and has better ball control than Theo, he would be brilliant and getting through the defence to slot a ball in for Arshavin. We wouldn't have to rely on RVP and we'd have a quick attack.

Lone strikers need to have a high work rate, battle for possession and be able to hold onto the ball, none of which the idle Russian has exhibited for a long time.
I don't understand why people are trying to find a position for him 'where he doesn't have to track back'. What's so special about him that that he isn't required to put some effort in.
I don't care how much talent a player does or doesn't have, I expect him to graft for the team.
I completely agree that we need a quality striker, but the fat, lazy Russian isn't the man.

agree - seemed to play that role in a cc game recently, looks a lot better there than wide in a front 3.flash gunner wrote:Play him behind the striker in the old Arsenal formation. Exactly even Messi works his bollocks off and he's 10 times the player little Shava is.SpanishJoe wrote:Lone strikers need to have a high work rate, battle for possession and be able to hold onto the ball, none of which the idle Russian has exhibited for a long time.
