Is there a team you miss playing ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Is there a team you miss playing ?

Post by StuartL »

I've just spent a very happy hour or so with a bottle of St Aubel Cider and a pack of Turkish Delight watching and reminiscing Thierry Henry's legend DVD and it made me realise I miss playing Southampton.

1 - Henry's 1st and 100th goals v Southampton
2 - Bergkamps first goal (s) v Southampton
3 - Ian Wright's 1st league goal(s) debut hat trick v Southampton
4 - Last day for the old North Bank and Wright hat trick to claim the goalden boot v Southampton
5 - Pires and Pennant hat trick in same game v Southampton

It looks likely that we will renew aquaintances next season (assuming we avoid relegation again  )

Any other teams that you miss playing against ?

Would like to see Sheffield Wednesday get back to the Prem. A proper 'old school' English ground and club. Unless they are rival clubs I hate to see the bigger clubs like Wednesday fall through the leagues, replaced by the likes of Wigan with their 12000 crowds.

Use to like Hillsborough trips....train to Sheffield, tram to the ground. Was there when Di Canio shoved the ref over too !

Crystal Palace was always 6 points a season, it was a shithole of a place to get to but had a few good away trips there including Ian Wrights last game for Palace in a game we won 4-1 and i watched it in the Palace end :?

and also nowadays you could see how our once Golden generation of youth players are getting on first hand

and agree with SteveO we need big clubs like Wednesday back too never had any bad feeling about Wednesday unlike fellow Yorkshire teams like Leeds

Coventry away for me. I must have gone to that fixture about 20 years on the trot. Good trip and you would be back in North London by 6.30.
Thing is since they got relegated they haven't even been close to coming back up and looked likely to be in League 1 next year.

Good call. Don't know how I forget them as they would be my nearest Premier League team if they came up! I'd be home before 6pm!

Many happy memories of visiting their old group - Highfield Road.

luton town. still remember the old away end, we were herded in like cattle. only went once, think there must have been a ban on away fans the year after and then they went down :?

don't think we'll be seeing the *word censored* anytime soon though

Coventry is a good shout. I lived close at the time too and they would give a good amout of tickets for the away teams so would always get a ticket.

Be nice to visit there new stadium if we get them in a cup.
