Dropping cheap points comes back to haunt you (10/12)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Dropping cheap points comes back to haunt you (10/12)

usual thread starter… Do you think Boro away was a blip or the start of something more permanent? I can’t say I am feeling glass half full myself at the moment, but the team have suffered by the high standards they have set themselves this season and are now being judged accordingly. Yes, we are still top, which would have seemed unthinkable in July. But Borro away very much looked like the rails coming off to me. Do hope I am wrong, but I tell it like I see it.

other teams have sussed us. all they have to do is keep fouling us on and off the ball. they block, push, shove, pull, trip and whatever else it takes.
the referees can see what is happening, but they are reluctant to do anything about it because it's arsenal.
the only way to deal with this problem is every time the opposition commit a foul you lie down till you have been treated.
no matter what is said you always lie down till treated. fans opposition players and the referree will get fed up of this and they will have to do something about it. they can't book you if ref has blown for a foul.
i have never seen as many tackles without a booking as i did in the newcastle and middlesboro games.
the first half of the middlesboro game must hold the world record for the number of fouls committeed in a match.
tackles from behind also went unpunished. rokenbach had a ticket to maim.
WHAT DO OTHER READERS THINK?
AM I A GENIUS OR A KN*B?

I hope this has been our blip:

Wigan – just managed to score in the last 10 minutes
Sevilla - we lost but we didn’t play our strongest team
Aston Villa – played brilliant in first-half but crumbled in second-half, although we won
Newcastle – wasn’t a comfortable draw, could have lost
Middlesbrough – I think we were absolutely shit

The main contributors to this blip have been: missing players like Hleb, Fabregas, and Van Persie; and also, we played 4 away matches in a row. The positive is, the pessure is now on us to prove ourselves against Chelsea as Clichy said:

we can't keep blaming the injuries. we sent a bunch of kids out to play newcastle and murdered them. we send a very experienced team out and struggle to get a draw.
the only thing i can blame is gilberto.
he didn't play with the kids against newcastle. he came on in second half against villa +full games against newcastle and middlesboro and we have not played well since. the balance of the team goes out the window when he's in it.
he doesn't fight to get into the box to support strikers. giving silly free kicks away in dangerous areas. he's past his sell by date. time to get rid.
if you don't believe me watch him next time he plays. his mind is elsewhere. he is already sat on a beach in spain or italy sunning himself with a his new team.

Too much hoofing it up field against Middlesbrough. I don't know why they did it, but it's not our way and if Fab and Hleb had been there they would probably have had words with the others. Although maybe the fact that they were not there was why it happened. Even Toure was doing it, one of our longest serving players who knows it’s not the Arsenal game.

I agree with Corn. Rochembach should have had a Red by the time he had his first yellow. However skilful the team is there has to be some protection from the ref against the tackle from behind after the ball has gone. But as in Cardiff Howard Webb wasn't watching. And whilst we are all paranoid Gooners - and not without good reason - Bolton recently did the same thing to ManUre. Anyway, hopefully with Fab and Hleb back things should improve tomorrow.
