THE LAST SIXTEEN!

Post by RaM »

Ok. So to have a look at who we could get in the draw:

Group A:
1. Porto
2. Liverpool

Group B:
1. Chel$ki
2. Schalke

Group C:
1. Real Madrid
2. Olympiacos

Group D:
1. Milan
2. Celtic

Group E:
1. Barca
2. Lyon

Group F:
1. ManUre
2. Roma

Group G:
1. Inter
2. Fenerbache

Group H:
1. Sevilla
2. Us

In the next round, we can therefore be drawn against:

-Porto
-Madrid
-Milan
-Barca
-Inter

All challenging games really. BUT there are some positives I can see, take them as you will:

1. These teams are all more likely to come out and attack, leaving us to play our game. (i.e they won't be like PSV were last season).

2. Beating one of these 'big teams' early in the knockout stages will not only improve our morale, but will leave opposition scared to play us later on.

Thoughts??

I wouldn"t want Milan or Barca. Milan only have the CL to play for and as they proved last season they know how to raise there game for the big ties.Barca on their day are the best side in Europe

I would fancy us against Porto over two legs and Madrid also. Inter always flatter to decieve in the CL so i think we can beat them.
But if we are going to win the CL we are going to have to beat the good sides sometime. I want Barca in the final we have unfinished buisness with them

All of these teams are welcome at the Grove, but teams from Italy are our cup of tea more often than not, aren't they? The worst team to get for me are Real Madrid.

I would prefer to meet:

1. Porto
2. Inter
3. Real Madrid
4. Barca
5. Milan

It will be hard games in any case, but if we shall win Cl we must meet these teams anyway. So bring them on. Hope we are ready

I'd be pleased if we got inter or porto.. i'd expect to beat them.. as for the others it depends on who performs on the day.

We'd have great fortune if we get them but I can't see us being so fortunate

Porto are obvious favourites to draw but I don't mind who we get. If we are realistic about winning this thing then we have to beat the best.

I think we can beat anybody on our day (provided all are fit) and a more open style definitely suits us. Really the teams we want to try and avoid as long as possible are the English ones. They know us and how to counter a lot of what we do. Can you imagine the smugness of the rednose crunt if he knocked us out of europe

In 2006 we beat Real Madrid and Juventus on the way to the final. In 2007 got an easier draw and lost to PSV in the 2nd round so bring on whoever we could do any of them

I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD UNDER-ESTIMATE INTER MILAN. THEY ARE A SQUAD FULL OF QUALITY AND EXPERIENCED PLAYERS, WHO HAVE BEEN ON A GOOD RUN FOR A FEW MONTHS AND ARE THEREFORE VERY CONFIDENT.

APART FROM THE OBVIOUS PORTO, I BELIEVE THAT THE NEXT EASIEST TIE FOR US WOULD BE A.C. MILAN, WHO ARE AN OLD TEAM COMING TO THE END OF THEIR TIME (A BIT LIKE JUVENTUS IN 2006). AFTER THAT, I WOULD TAKE BARCELONA BEFORE MADRID BECAUSE I BELIEVE BARCA HAVE MORE DEFENSIVE VULNERABILITIES.

WHOEVER WE GET IT'S GOING TO BE HARD AND I CAN'T HELP THINKING WE'VE MADE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR OURSELVES BECAUSE OF THAT SLAVIA TEAM SELECTION AND RESULT.

We fucked it in Prague, do you really feel confident playing any of our possible opponents, I sure as hell don't. Wenger has scuppered our chances this year not only through poor judgement and squad selection but also through failing to strengthen the sqaud in the closed season. Yes until Sunday we are top of the league, enjoy it because it is possibly the last time this season we wll be able to say it. Am I on a downer.....No just realistic that we aint good enough just yet. I do believe however that we can better out 4th place finish of the past two seasons, third place is ours for the taking in the Premier League and an early exit from the Champions League awaits us come February unless we find some serious form between now and then.

Any of them is going to be tricky but having said that we played Real madrid a couple of seasons ago and we progressd to the quatar finals and eventually went to the final and ended as runners up so it all depense how we perform on the night this time round.

Keep The Faith People.

Who is harder? Real Madrid or PSV? Which one did we beat and which one knocked us out? If we turn up and take our chances, we can beat anybody, finish like we did against PSV and we won't get past the weakest side there.
