Is Chamakh the worst Arsenal striker ever?

Is Chamakh the worst Arsenal striker ever?

Post by Red Member »

I am struggling to think of one. Maybe there has been in the past but surely we have never had one who has had so many opportunities and still failed.

thank fuck for the African Cup. But I thought it was telling that although all the other African players have already had to go, Morocco were happy for Chamakh to stay in England a bit longer

There's been a few Red, but I must say this past 12 months old Mary Ann has been doing his best to join a list that would certainly include Lee Chapman, but also take in John Hawley and Ray Hankin (who probably gets the vote).

Kaba Diawara was possibly the unluckiest striker I've seen in my time watching Arsenal.

Towards the end of his spell with us Christopher Wreh was truly awful as well.

I think the boys of the 80s mentioned above were probably all worse than Chamakh, but he certainly did produce another Chapman-esque performance the other night

Remember Kaba in that game at Leeds? He hit the post 143 times that day. Poor fucker had no luck whatsoever.

Luck or was he just shite? Hitting the post is as much of a goal as missing by 10 foot.... Not bad luck Kaba was a ***** striker and a fore runner of Mr.Knows ability to pick a lemon

I still think Franny Jeffers is the worst striker we've ever had, taking into account his price tag and the level of hype that surrounded him prior to his arrival.

Certainly his finishing was poor but his movement was good and his touch decent. Maybe a decent second striker could have been made of him? Sometimes the difference between a good striker and a shit one can be as close as a *BrazilianGOONER...

*a really really small amount!

Chamakh is up there thats for sure but the most expensive flop is his mate Arshavin.
I mean we were playing Leeds at home and those 2 made it look like we were playing United.
On comes a 34 year old legend and does what is needed.
Hate to hijack this thread or send it in another direction but WHEN Van Persie leaves on current form Wenger will never be able to find a decent not even World Class striker to replace him.
Enjoy the time we have with VP and Henry. It could be our last for a very long time.

I used to think that Kaba was alright and just unlucky but just googled him to see how he did after us and i think this sums it up....

1999 Arsenal 12 apps 0 goals
1999 Marseille 15 apps 0 goals
2000–2003 Paris Saint-Germain 14 apps 0 goals
2001 → Blackburn Rovers (loan) 5 apps 0 goals
2001 → West Ham United (loan) 11 apps 0 goals

So as a striker young Kaba went two years and 57 games without a single goal for five different clubs. Thats some record!!!

Henry ran more in his first 2 minutes on the pitch than Chamakh did all night.
when I say he is the worst striker ever you also have to take into account his general commitment and work rate. It is non existent. I booed him on and cheered him off
