The What a WUM Gobshite Thread!

Post by Red Member »

since October we have accumulated about as many points as anyone else in the PL

we have probably the world's leading striker playing for us

we have probably the club's greatest ever player with us for the next 2 months

we have the most promising midfielder in England, Jack Wilshere returning from injury next month

we have one of the most exciting young talents in England, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

when all fully fit we now have one of the best defences in the country

we are one of of only 2 clubs left in this country who are still in the Champions League

we are still in the FA Cup

ANY MOANING AND CRITICISMS SHOULD NOW WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON - GET BEHIND THE TEAM LIKE ON MONDAY NIGHT AND LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS

And then at the end of the season we'll be asked to wait until Wenger has completed his moves in the Summer Transfer Window; then if by some miracle Wenger signs a couple of players, we'll be asked to give them time to bed in and for the team to gel; then it will be 'let's wait until the January Transfer Window', etc, etc, etc. It's a refrain that we've been hearing for the past few years and to be honest, I'm just about sick of it!! :banghead: When will be 'the right time' to criticise?

I think if we don't finish in the top 4
also if we finish below Spurs

in both cases big questions need to be asked of Wenger and the board

Would you agree that at that point the new counter arguement for a revolution would be

"Wenger is the only man who can get us back into fourth and above Spurs, now we don't have the Champions League money we need a manager who can operate on a very tight transfer budget and there is no-one in world football better at doing that then Wenger"

Fuck the *word censored*. I'm through with the lot of em.

The team/squad has been in obvious constant decline for 6 seasons now, why bury our heads in the sand and kid ourselves everything might be ok?

Because for those past 6 seasons we have

1. finished in the Champions League places
2. finished above Spurs
3. competed for trophies

I admit that if we do none of the above this season it will be a big failure and it might be time for a new direction

Well get used to the idea, because come the end of the season you will realise what everyone else has realised a long, long time ago.

arsenal in decline

Post by lowerwest »

its very difficult to remain positive when we are witnessing the decline of a once great club happening before our very eyes. all of it played out with the depressing whine of clutching at straws. wenger asks us to view the last 5 or 6 seasons in glowing terms i am sorry i just cant. what have we witnessed.

1) prices going through the roof

2) a constant struggle to remain in the top 4 despite engaging in a paltry, puny transfer policy.

3) balancing the books seemingly the only acheivement this board seems interested in.

4) couple of occasions actually challenging for the title only for it to disappear in a puff of smoke due to lack of spending.

5) feeding the ego of a man who wants to build a team in his own image for peanuts and then blame everyone else when it goes wrong.

nope sorry thats the way i see it....still a ST holder but only just

What, only now?

This pattern you so accurately described has been in place since at least 2008... ...it has more sequels than Back to the Future movies...
