New member with a question...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

New member with a question...

Post by gooner9349 »

Hi everyone

Newbie on the forum .. been a confirmed Gooner since '71 when my Dad bought me the kit. Never understood why 'cos he's a Wednesday fan but cheers anyway Dad :D
Anyway, used to go every home game and the odd away till the inevitable happened...marriage+mortgage=skint then kids=even skinter :(
Still, haven't been idle - I've successfully brainwashed my two boys to be rabid little gooners...which brings me to the point (at last  )
The eldest is on at me to take him to the Grove, so whats best?
Do I join the Red scheme or does that only get the chance of one ticket?
Do I join Red and Him(Tom) join the JG's? Could that get us both in?
Do I join the travel club and take him away?
I've been on the season ticket list for 4 years so don't suppose I'm anywhere near the top yet. I (we) haven't been to the Grove yet and I'm pretty desperate to take him soon before his uncle converts him to be a Gills fan with the promise of tickets.
Any advice very gratefully received.....

Hope one of you may be able to assist

Cheers, Mike

mike -

welcome aboard. situation is this. if you join your son he will automatically become a silver member as a junior gunner. tickets can be bought for him 2 months before game. you as a red cannot buy a ticket until 1 month before. so if you wait til you can buy a ticket with him in the same transaction, you will find 2 things -
1. family enclosure will be sold out - so no cheap ticket for your son, he will have to go on an adult priced ticket elsewhere in the ground.
2. lower tier will have sold out, so you'll be paying over £90 per pair for tickets.

your best bet is to find a silver member who is not intending to go, use his membership with that of your son's as a junior gunner, and buy family enclosure tickets the moment they go on sale. tickets will have to be bought in the name (and on the credit card) of the silver member, although if you apply by post 3 or 4 days before the on sale by post, you can send a cheque of your own and the two cards will be electronically credited to allow your access to the match. just get the card off the silver member for the day in question. the silver member will get the email with the seat details.

hope this helps
