Emmanuel Eboue is indefensible (14/12)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Emmanuel Eboue is indefensible (14/12)

usual thread starter… I think this is a subject that Gooners are pretty much unanimous on. The player has lost all credibility due to the sheer number of transgressions. Now if he just limited the play acting to occasions when the team are getting a rough ride from cynical opposition (i.e. Paris 2006, when Henry came in for some treatment) then all’s fair in love and war. But it’s expected now and we’re all sick of it. Frustrating as he could be a quality player without the need for the acting and petulance.

So far as Eboue is concerned the upcoming Africans Cup is the only time I've ever looked forward to us losing a player to an international side. I would very much like to see Arsene sub him immediately he does something stupid again in a match. And we all know he will.

Eboue had a reasonable run at right back, in my opinion, and looked a great prospect. Arsene bought Sagna and he has been superb and definitely no.1 choice at RB.
As a result he has been forced to play out of his normal position and has almost imploded as a player - who's to blame though? He doesn't pick himself??? :?

Eboue is an embarrassment and to be honest not that good.I would be happy if he left Arsenal and took that other embarrassment Lehmann with him.

I don't necessarily disagree with that - just wondering how he went from promising prospect to most hated player!

ive supported the arsenal for 25 years, and in all that time, never i have i disliked an arsenal player so much. hes a bloody disgrace. watching the boro game on sunday, when he lashed out at, i forget who it was, i was like book him, book him. remember his shameful actions at the carling cup final??? good player he is, but should he even be in our strongest 11??? roll on jan/feb when we dont have 2 look at him.

Agree. But whatever happened to the "We'll support you evermore" attitude? Maybe we could cheer him when he does the good things and Ebooooooooue him when he cheats and he might get the message. Then again...

I remember when he first became a regular at right-back, when Lauren got an injury and we had that run to the Champions League final. I think he was brilliant but last season we saw that he wasn't that good defensively. The author of the article notes his crossing and brings Henry’s goal against Man Utd last season as an example; what about his magnificent assist for Van Persie's flying-volley goal against Charlton!

He has great potential and I think he played well against Chelsea but he showed his over-the-top aggression, yet again, against Terry this time (not that I feel sorry for him :) ). I think he can be like Cafu but he needs to stop diving, play-acting and fighting because Arsenal fans will never accept him if he continues to be like that.

EBOUE THE CHEAT

Post by fromthecradle »

I was having a beer with a few mates we were trying to think of our most embarrassing moment as fans of THE ARSENAL. One came up with Swindon in '69 another with Walsall in the 80's and another York in the F.A. Cup. Then I came up with trying to explain to my Grandson why that man fell over rolled on the ground got up fell again then rolled some more after SCUM keane had brushed him. I spent about 10 minutes trying to justify EBOUllEd overs actions when my Grandson looked me in the eye (like only Grandchildren can) and said you mean he's a FUCKING CHEAT. Dun up like a kipper by an eight year old.

I agree that his play acting has become too much, thats such a shit part of his game, and i can also see where your all coming from but i think we need to cut him a bit of slack. Him and sagna have been working quite well down the right together so far this season. Yes, he has had a couple of poor games this year but more often than not i think he dosent do to badly and offers alot to the side. If wenger dosent want Hleb on the right hand side of midfield then i think taht Eboue is our best option.

eboue is currently the best option on the right hand side, and i fully expect him to push rosicky out of the side when rvp is fully fit.

how about we just support the lad and let wenger deal with his attitude.

EBOUE THE CHEAT

I think that you are missing the point that is once everyone (referees etc) realises' that Eboue goes down without sometimes a hint of contact they will then stop giving valid free kicks and penaltys'. His footballing ability is not in question.
Happy New Year to you all

eboue always seems to want the extra touch. he's so frustrating.
when RVP gets back it will be rosicky on one wing and hleb on the other end of story.

The lad plays for Arsenal doesn't he?

Get behind the boys. I don't like any player diving or play acting - which Fabregas has also been up to of late (but I don't see anyone getting on his case).

Leave Eboue alone and support ANY player that wears the Arsenal shirt - you don't have to like him - just don't keep slagging him.
