The REALISTIC who will be our next manager thread????

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The REALISTIC who will be our next manager thread????

Post by northbankbren »

The senario doesnt matter when ever he is sacked or quits....

who are the real likely candidates that the board would go after in your opinion?

first off Hiddink, Moriniho, Achelotti, Guardiola, these guys for me are no way going to be chased by our board.

Its not who you want, its who will our board actually go after.

Personally I think the current board would look for a cheap ex-player option...Adams, maybe Bergkamp, maybe the two of them together. Or another ex-player partnership, Boald and Adams, Bergkamp and Viera?....Nice and cheap and if it fails they can put it down to and experiment, but will bring in enough nostalgia to bring in almost full houses and a great range of merchandise = profit.

OR again a total unknown..trying to replicate the Wenger appointment....and nice and cheap to start with OR a real Bruce Rioch type punt going with form with an unexpected team, and the likes of yes a Brendan Rogers or even an Alan Pardew for that matter...again cheap.

Basically I dont think the current board would bring in a real genuinally top quality manager, purely down to price.

USMARTIN sentiments on our board being basically a bunch of *word censored* was spot on....pity he was a nutta.

Pity he knew sod all about the team.

But i honestly dont trust this board to make a good appointment after Wenger is gone, and want to know what are the likely type of candidates they'd realistically be after in everyones opinions.

I think the board are happy to pay good money for a manager.

But I think Wenger goes in 2014.

I think:

Ancelotti manager.
Bould assistant manager.
Bergkamp coaching staff.
Adams coaching staff.

But if you want a dark horse, then I suggest a shock move for David Platt.

Id count anchelotti out as personally I dont think we'd offer him the budget to work with. So I dont think he's take the job especially with the cash cow at psg at the moment...2014 though, you never know.

Id say Platt aint a bad shout if citeh win a few things.

MANAGER

Knowing the clubs penchant for all things retro I would say George Graham Terry Neil or Don Howe .

Mind you knowing them they might prefer a cheaper option so even digging up the bones of Herbet Chapman might be considered !

 The board apparently are great puppet masters so just maybe...

I don't think we're looking at another manager until 2014 and by then it's too difficult to say who will be available, who will have made a name for themselves, etc.

Realistically, as in this Board, they will probably opt for an ex-player, as it appeals to their marketeer's approach. I could just imagine Adams, Bergkamp or Henry being offered the job - seriously. A continuation of Arsene's prinicples, someone they believe they could exert greater control over than an older, more established big name manager

Personally, I would like to see David Moyes given the job but that won't happen.

Retro and cheap so possibly Bruce Rioch to give it one final bash!

I think Moyes would be a very good option and he'd think he was in dreamland with a few quid to spend, another option i would like would be Martin o'Neil, i actually think o'neill would produce better performance out of our existing squad than Wenger does, the fact o'neill may even raise his voice could do the job..

But as per usual our board will plump for the bare minimum, at minimum cost to the club with the ability to make maximum profits, i'll actually be sending in my CV today!!!
