Best atmospheres you've been part of?

Best atmospheres you've been part of?

Post by Chips and Chocolate »

Last two home games were two of the best atmosphere-wise since we moved from Highbury.
That got me thinking: what were the 3 best atmospheres (home or away, domestically or in Europe) you were part of (i.e. games you attended) since 2006?
I'll start:
1) Spurs at home two years ago: think we were 2nd or 3rd back then, huge sense of anticipation (well there always is that feeling when we play that lot) and 2 goals in 11 seconds, perfect. Stood all game, stewards were fine (even celebrating with us for a change) and an entire day on the piss!

2) Standard Liege away (CL): A nightmare first 5 minutes and the ground went absolutely mental, non-stop singing, half the ground standing.

3) Dortmund away (this year): Well you couldn't hear us put to shame by European support once again.One of the best grounds I've been in, that yellow wall is impressive. Germany is the best country to watch Arsenal in Europe (transport, beer, currywürst...)

At Arsenal;

- Spurs 09 and the other week was quite good. Tuesday was also decent & really enjoyed Everton last year with.the Saha offside goal. Sadly I'm not cool enough to have been at many of our big "glory" matches :(

Outside of Arsenal;

- Standing on the sudtribune at Dortmund is ******* excellent & just how watching football should be. Other than that its a toss up between Legia Warsaw & Olympiakos for best atmosphere. However i'm going to Red Star-Partizan a week on Wednesday which I think may well top both of those. Can't ******* wait.

Best Arsenal- Copenhagen 1994 when Go West was played just before the teams came out :barscarf:

Beat opposition- Either PSG away 94, atmosphere was white-hot, could have been due to the shenanigans outside before KO :box: or Fenerbache 09 (before we ruined it by scoring twice in the first 5 minutes !!)

Best ever- England v Spain Euro 96 after the penalty shoot-out, thought Wembley was going to collapse under the jumping about during Three Lions !!

Wigan at home in the Carling Cup last season. Very few expletives from the terraces and it was quiet enough for me to have a little kip in the second half.

Few favourites stick out for me:

Birmingham Away March 2010, was class until Manuel's disaster at the end.....

Barca Home 2011, block 6 was mental

Sp*rs 5-2, Mikey, Duffman and HashKads can confirm how ridiculous 6 was :D

Chavs away 5-3

Milan in the Duomo this year was quality, shame about what happened in the football afterwards

That Sp*rs game was mental. It felt like the old Arsenal when everyone was happy and not having a go at each other. People were actually smiling and stayed right until the end. :barscarf: :barscarf:

5-2 was good for atmosphere, slightly ruined by the lack of free HT drinks though.

Birmingham away was brilliant, as was Liverpool the other week. Chelsea was good. Everton and Bolton home in recent years (Saha offside goal and 4-2 to go top of the league) stick out in the memory too.

I don't have a lot of games to choose from (I've visited 7 Arsenal games now, including 5 away), but if I have to pick one, I would say Dortmund away. Great stadium, fantastic atmosphere. Milan away last month was great too (well, untill the game began...), the atmosphere at Duomo square and the singing when we were going to San Siro by busses was terrific. Apart from the game I think San Siro was pretty good as well, the atmosphere was better than Camp Nou last year.

By the way: great to have our forum back! :barscarf:

Many already mentioned of course.....

But despite the result, Man utd away in August was emotional and showed some class us fans do possess
