Most Pointless Signing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Most Pointless Signing

Post by Rosie_titters »

there has been a few over the years, but has Park been the most pointless signing ever - i know he hasn't been given a chance,

But what was the point of him - although Bischoff has too be the most pointless signing ever

I think this has been one big cock up and I feel sorry for Park. He scored in the CC and I thought he'd be a good squad player.....but we know he won't ever play

I really feel sorry for him. Must be a reason he's not being played. Maybe AW realized how shit he was as soon as he joined?

I was in the North Bank when he scored his first and only goal for Arsenal in the CC. Quite a good finish if I'm honest.

in the sporting point of view it's indeed pointless. But as we'll play a friendly in Korea in the summer, I can kinda understand the financial point of it

And that pretty much sums up the modern Arsenal. By all accounts Park should be a talented player, more so than Chamakh. But it's painfully obvious why he has been signed and I feel sorry for the lad.

Hope we quietly let him go this summer, at least so he can go somewhere with first team football. That No. 9 shirt is indeed cursed.

I just hope the money made on shirt sales over there made it worthwhile but yes he's an extremely poor signing. At least the likes of Bischoff were freebie punts. This cost £2m if the stories are true.

+ wages - this signing does remind me of the inamoto signing a few years back - but at least he had the saving grace that PV4, EDU,Parlour, Ljungberg, Van Bronckhorst and a few others were ahead of him - this guy only has to compete with Chamakh

The other thing about signing Park, is that we snatched him from under the noses of Lille, possibly jeopardising any potential deal for Hazard i imagine.

Quality finish in the cup. I'd play him ahead of Chamakh.

Got to be Clive Allen hasn't it? OK he turned out to be a fornicating onanist in later life but was quite a player in his day. Obviously we needed Kenny Sansom more.
