So we need

Post by SammyDroppedHisShorts »

With five games to go the Arsenal need to win 3 to be certain of a top four finish (with goal difference better than all rivals too.

I cannot see Spurs, Newcastle or Chelsea winning all five games so in theory the bar will fall lower.

Now I really do believe that we will win both our next two home matches and therefore retain our five point gap with three to play. By winning both that will put Chelsea pretty much out of the equation for third.

They have some monster games and I do feel their threat will be gone after we play them.

Newcastle have five winnable games and credit to them they have been superb in their last five winning them all. The fact they still have Chelsea to play means our bar of points will be lowered with them cutting each others throats and a draw being perfect. They also have to travel to Wigan and Everton so I cannot see Newcastle winning all five and overturning our five point swing plus massive 17 goal difference.

Finally, Spurs, the wheels HAVE fallen off as the Norwich result will show and although on paper their final five games looks better I just don't see them taking the necessary points to overhaul us. I can see them losing at QPR and both Bolton and Villa away will mean hard work that I feel they have no longer got in their legs to win.

In a nutshell, Arsenal need to win all three home games to secure nine points. We can afford one defeat and we go to Stoke and West Brom and there are points that can be won there.

Arsenal will secure a minimum of 9 points from last 15
Tottenham minimum of 10 points
Newcastle 9 points
Chelsea 9 points

Key games

Arsenal v Chelsea
Chelsea v Newcastle
Stoke v Arsenal
QPR v Tottenham
Everton v Newcastle.

if we win our next 2 games, by the time the scum play qpr away we will be 11 points ahead.

Cant see them winning that game tbh

Obviously they will have games in hand, crammed in with FA cup games that twitchy is clearly saving players for.

If we get 3 points at the Britannia I really will believe that we have 'turned the corner'

I can just see those tossers getting themselves up for one last clog before the season's out

getting there I see.
I said towards the end of last year that we were approcahing a "golden era" at the club.
ok it was put on hold for a couple of months but we are definitely getting there now.

9 out of 10 wins. Imagine if I had predicted that. I would have been banned on here for ever :D

There will only be a golden era if we keep our best players and buy 2 world class players in the summer.

If not all this is for nothing AGAIN.

I will enjoy this great run and the quality support while it lasts. I am confident that next season we will carry on like every other year due to wengers plan/ego

The fans are onside and there is a bond like never before since 2004. If he fucks up this summer it will all be broken again

Agree 100% with Mikey. I can read a set of accounts and we have a minimum of £50m available to invest in the Summer. Keep RvP, sign Podolski, clear out some dead wood, sign a player of the Goetze mould, M'Vila and a centre half that is prepared to do the rough stuff in certain PL games.....and it could be a golden era

Sell RvP, keep all the dross and just sign Podolski and its not even a bronze era

dont worry lads, just done the PL predictor and you come 3rd.

Your results are as follows:
Arsenal 2 Wigan 1
Arsenal 0 Chelsea 0
Stoke 2 Arsenal 1
Arsenal 3 Norwich 0
West Brom 1 Arsenal 1

A disappointing 8 points from 15

Spurs however get:

QPR 1 Spurs 2
Spurs 1 Blackburn 0
Bolton 1 Spurs 0
Villa 1 Spurs 0
Spurs 3 Fulham 0

9 points from 15, nowhere near enough to catch you

Chelsea end up 4th (draw with Arsenal, win against QPR, Newcastle, Liverpool and Blackburn)
Newcastle end up 6th (beat stoke, draw with Wigan, lose to Chelsea, Everton and Man City)

Man United win the league by 2 points, Sunderland grab a fairly average 11th and the relegation places are taken by Wolves (bottom with 24), then Wigan (34) and QPR (34) with Bolton and Blackburn just surviving on 35.

And obviously as its on the BBC predictor this makes it fact.

Or maybe I'm just very bored at work today.

West Brom finished 14th

TBH I wouldnt pay much attention to the scores, I just stick anything in to avoid it taking hours, but I reckon the match will finish a draw one way or the other. Ashley Cole should be back and I think he will keep Walcott relatively quiet and this could mean Van Persie struggling to get as involved as he would like, possibly having to drop back to find space. Equally, they have Drogba/ Torres, Mata and Sturridge who I think can keep Arsenal a bit wary and thus see them dropping back slightly (can't really keep a high line and push up with Sturridge and Mata around to exploit space in behind and actually Torres, shit though he is, could equally threaten in behind, if Drogba plays he wont get behind but if Mata/ Sturridge do then he's dangerous if they cross it back for him).

So I can see Arsenal concentrating on giving nothing away, especially since a draw in that one (bearing in mind the other games you have left all looking winnable against middle/ lower table sides) would be a positive result, its more vital that Chelsea win it as they'll be chasing 4th and have a few tricky games. That coupled with Walcott probably being quite well shackled leading to a lack of counter attacking opportunities means I think a draw is likely- maybe 0-0 would be worth a bet, but a 1-1 wouldnt surprise me either. You're more likely to win than they are mind, I'll give you that, but Wenger will take a point imo and seal 3rd with wins in other games against average sides

Top post mate. I'm worried the last 6 weeks will be seen as a sign all is well when in fact it isn't thanks to a shambles of epic proportions last summer. With 2-3 good players coming in and a lot of rubbish leaving I really believe we could challenge for the title. The reality however is Jack and Abou will be treated like new signings and we finish 4th with February cup exits.

A key aspect to the team doing so well is the quality support we are giving the team. Both home and away the crowd has been superb. Even at home its been loud and everyone standing. Games like Newcastle and Citeh in the last few minutes were helped by the crowd. Same as Liverpool away in the last minute

We are staying until the final whistle and not giving up no matter what the score. If in the summer we fuck it all up again I am dreading all the infighting and poor atmosphere again

Any surprise we are winning games in an environment with ALL THE CROWD vocally behind them at all times pushing them on. Also that the team are showing passion and actually giving a fuck.

We are all giving the team a chance and getting behind every player (apart from that fuckwit cham) but I know for certain the same understanding will not be there next season if we have a summer from hell caused by the ego man wenger

Sunderland fan,

what you have got to remember about the Chelsea game is that they will be exhausted after playing Spurs at Wembley and Barcelona on the Wednesday night prior to a lunchtime Saturday game.

RVP and Walcott will rip what remains of their defence to shreds.

2nd point - Wenger doesnt settle for a point. this is a team of winners, thats why we have won 9 out of 10

well done for beating us in the cup though!
