It is a tad off putting (for me anyway) it's like that fx in Jaws when Schneider is on the beach and the camera zooms in towards him blurring the background but he stays in focus,....well you did ask! ...For me it detracts and distracts from the stuff you're trying to read...

The background doesn't show on iPad, the main blog body is formatted to fill the whole screen. Will check it on the PC in a little while...
