Au Revoir to the Irish

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Au Revoir to the Irish

Post by frankbutcher »

You battled well to three emphatic losses. You lit up the tournament with your plucky never say win attitude. Your fans were the best there were. Whilst all the other sets of fans sat in the stadium glum and sober, the Irish were the only fans to make a noise, belting out your Anthems.

We will miss you all. See you again in Brazil 2014. Just make sure you bring plenty of sun tan lotion.

Canny Irish.

They threw their last Euro's on a last hurrah before returning to the Punts.

Sorry but i cannot see in anyway, shape or form the Irish making a finals tournament for a very very long tim ebased upon an ageing squad and very little in quality coming through. Brazil 2014 wont see Ireland i am sad to say

I agree. Maybe the Euros in 2016 where 24 teams will qualify. I also don't think Trap is the man to rebuild the team but someone in the FAI in their wisdom have given him a contract up to 2014!

Depends sammy - if traps fcuks off we would have a shot. We have a number of good young players that should have been in the euro 2012 squad at the very least and some should have been in the first 11 - I am not saying any of these players are going to be world class or anything but james mc carthy should be in the team ahead of glenn whelan and seamus coleman should be in the team at either right back or right side midfield cos he would be a big improvement on the players currently filling those positions. The problem we have is that trap doesnt trust any of the young players and wouldnt even give them starts in any of the friendlies prior to the euro's so what chance do they have to prove themselves trustworthy ? At the mo he picks system players rather than footballers and the hope over here is that he will change his philosophy now but tbh I just cannot see it happening so the prospects of the team improving as long as trap remains in charge is slim to say the least :(

I thought this was a thread saying bye to the Irish clique after frank's wrong prediction about Nick Powell :rubchin:

Agree with ya augie. The thing is Crapattoni has run his course. He's stuck with pretty much the same team/squad, that met up on that first training session, and from that day it was about favourates, not the best players.

Paul Green in midfeild ahead of the likes of Gibson, Stephen Hunt, Coleman, and even players like stvenn reid when he first took over....do me a favour.

Cox ahead of Walters, Long, and considering he played him left midfeild a certain young lad by the name of McClean?

We need to be realistic and try and build for the next euros not the world cup....

Id sack Trapp and go for Chris Hughton.
