An Apology

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

An Apology

Post by goonersid »

Sorry lads for my post last night, may I say first that whilst delighted with England's exit from the tournament, I can say cetegorically that I have no ill feeling towards the English people themselves.
I spent 5 happy years working in Swindon and made many good friends there, some of whom I am still in regular contact with.
My sister is married to an English man, an ex-Raf engineer and a nicer man you could not meet.
So I am truly sorry for any offence my drink fuelled post may have caused. And I can think myself lucky for not being banned.

Have to admit, sid - I was shocked and disappointed. I've issued a warning, and tbh if you hadn't apologised so unreservedly, it would have been a ban.

This bit's not aimed at you sid but the forum in general; It's a shame that the Euros, this supposed celebration of football, has brought so much bitterness and xenophobia to this forum. Sooner it's over the better.

The good news is this thread has exposed augie's desperation to become a moderator and that it'll never happen :barscarf:

To be honest i was one of the first people to respond to your outburst Sid and i took it with tongue in cheek by replying in the manner it was i thought intended as a wind up.

Because of who you are and what you have contributed to this forum and that you are not on my warning radar i let it go. That maybe down to a lack of experience moderating or the fact that i am not too precious and understand people and emotion.

As an Englishman and a proud one at that, i still took great joy in watching A. Cole miss his penalty....i for one feel you have done the honourable thing, but i also understand that you are a person who likes to have a little mix up....its ok by me.

Lastly, i didnt personally edit the comment as perhaps i should have done, but......sometimes the truth hurts ;)

Fair play to you Sid, no offence was taken.

Now ban the bastard for a month
