Spuds' most embarrassing moments

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Spuds' most embarrassing moments

Post by northbank123 »

In honour of Spurs fans naming Kyle Walker as the club's best-ever right-back after a decent showing in his first full season there, I was wondering whether it would make a catalogue of their greatest humiliations and what other feats would make that list.

I'll get the ball rolling: obviously hosting our title-winning party. TWICE. :barscarf:

not us, but being 3-0 up at HT to the mancs and losing 5-3 was pretty funny.

you can also add the annual "top five this year, title challengers next year" comment that at least one of their players will state publicly every year.

Taking the piss in October 1987 at SHL with the Pleat kerb crawling banners, blow up dolls thousands of Gooners everywhere and then beating them 2-1 my first ever away North London Derby :barscarf:

releasing a dvd for a 4-4 draw, after which they remained 19th
having a cock as a club emblem
having to live in our shadow after we moved in
bragging for a whole season about our downfall, then finishing below us and pretending they didn't care
being tottenham hotspur

The celebrations of Taricco & their inbred fans after making it 2-2 when we won it there in '04 never fails to make me laugh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrgixaKP7oA I'm almost embarassed for them, absolutely no comprehension of what's happening. Unbelievably small time.

the 4-0 loss at home to liverpool was pretty bad. i think they also lost 4-0 to Fulham. Fulham

2010 i think.

they were title challengers too.

Having this useless *word censored* play for them.... I think he played in their relegated side of 1977.

One today actually, Gareth Bale on signing his new contract 'I want to get this club back into the Champions League where they belong'....what one season there a couple of years back and all of a sudden they belong there?

How about this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e58rdYk1 ... re=related

Or Singing about Nayim from the halfway line ten years after the event when the player didn't even play for them at the time
Wearing Barcelona shirts on their last home game of the season before our Champions League Final, Their fans singing 'Are you watching Arsenal' when they beat West Brom in a Monday night fixture in the same season when we were playing Juventus in the Champions League Quarter Final the day after

Lasagnegate, Alan Sugars quote about Chris Armstrong will prove to be better value for money than Dennis Bergkamp

Emmanuel Petit getting taxi money from Tottenham to go and discuss a contract with Arsenal

Ben Mitchell crying when being dumped out the League Cup by us

Us winning the league more times at their ground than they have

Announcing ticket details of the 1987 League Cup final only for us to come back and knock them out.

Mind The Gap T Shirts

Their greatest team in 50 years, our worst start to a season in 50 years and we still finish above them in the league

They really are a laughable bunch of deluded folk

their away support wildly celebrating a 0-0 draw on a rainy sunday afternoon at Highbury sometime in the late/mid nineties.

Alan Sugar stating "Bergkamp will do nothing at Arsenal" (3 EPL's 4 FAC's)

Levy paying Manu Petit's taxi fare to Highbury so he could sign for The Arsenal.

Sol leaving to win things. Teddy leaving not to win things.

losing an FA Cup Semi Final to the chavs 5-1. that must be one of if not the biggest semi final loss in history.

losing 5-1 at home to City.

announcing league cup final tickets on sale at the lane semi in 1987. then losing 2-1 to The Arsenal.

i'm sure there's more.

Losing their first ever Champions League match to the European Giants - Young Boys of Berne

Having Chas and Dave as their best known celebrity supporters.

Having had a badger as a manager (Gerry Francis)

singing about "Glory. Glory" when they haven't won a meaningful trophy since 1991

That will do for now, :D

My 500th post, and what a way to celebrate it.

Although my choice of the Tootsies most embarrassing moments is freshest in the memory, it is also, quite probably, going to remain with me forever.

Last season has to be just about the biggest and most significant cock-up, and most embarrassing time in their short history. (I use history in the loosest terms).

To be 2-0 up at our place, whilst cheating for a pen to be in the ascendancy. 13 points clear and talking of "challenging for the title", (snigger) not my quote. With saggy chops 'giving it large' from his motor about the possibility of world class players joining them, and remaining with them, pffft. Those deluded Tootsie followers in the stands with their abject faces being shown up on the tv, before the final whistle, after having celebrating like rampant nymphomaniac orangutans during their brief lead.

An absolutely cataclysmic demise was witnessed by all and sundry. I am very honoured to say that the EVENTS that made this all possible were extremely funny and very much appreciated.

Yet, they still say that they had a successful but unlucky conclusion to their season.

Yeah, that kinda hits the spot.
