Wenger or Van Persie?
I am and never have been an AKB but given the comments about the direction of the club and their differences it is in my mind very clear that Arsene should go!!
This statement says to me very clearly we are not winning another trophy as Arsene won't pay top money and the cheap options will again be coming

Re: Wenger or Van Persie?
I'd imagine for many this is a no brainer.
Not only is RvP the quality of player we can't afford to lose, but many (including myself) would be quite happy for Wenger to walk away anyway.

I just believe the board are saving to cash to have the balance of the stadium bond repayments held in our accounts, and until they do so we will not be spending big money unless we offload players.
Wenger went along with it for his own reasons of youth development.
So cannot answer your question as the two men are not an "either or" for me.

The debt repayment is built in to how much we earn already and the continual sale of land is a massive cash injection into our repayments.
Arsene is a football club manager, not running a bank or any other business, as such he should concentrate on using the cash he has to buy better players and stop pretending that what he has is good ennough and that buying cheap alternatives will get us into that magical trophyless spot of 4th!!!

I am not overreacting but for me personally this is the death of Arsenal FC until board/manager change.
Worse day than when David Dein left and that was the poison that started the death.

Re: Wenger or Van Persie?
I want Arsene gone no matter who plays for us. He has repeatedly failed the club and the fans by his insistence on sticking with tippy tappy and rewarding average and poor players with extended improved contracts.
As for RVP? No player is bigger than the club. In his 8 years we have seen ONE exceptional season from him. ONE. Not denigrating his quality, but due to his constant injuries over that time we have gotten ONE brilliant full season out of him. I'd rather he stays, but he's not an irreplaceable loss tbh.

Newcastle 1
Manchester City 2
Liverpool 3
Chelsea 7
Manchester United 12
This list of clubs are the only ones to finish above Arsenal since Mr Wenger has been manager.
Newcastle finished above Arsenal only on goal difference of +3.
This was the season when Mr Wenger joined part of the way through the
season.
Chelsea and Manchester City have only finished above Arsenal when Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour brought the clubs.
Manchester United have always had more money to spend on transfers and player wages. The 1st time they finished above Arsenal was in Mr Wenger's 1st season when he joined part of the way through the season. The last 6 times, Arsenal have been at the emirates.
In the 9 full seasons Mr Wenger managed Arsenal at Highbury, Manchester United finished above Arsenal 5 times, Chelsea twice and Liverpool once. During this time Arsenal won the league 3 times.
Liverpool first finished above Arsenal in the season 05/06, Arsenals last season at Highbury. The following season liverpool finished above Arsenal only on goal difference of +2
Emirates stadium :-
The financial effects of the move to the emirates stadium, the increased spending of Manchester United, the new owners of Manchester City and Chelsea have meant that Arsenal cannot compete financially. The only club that has finished above Arsenal who are on a level playing field, so to speak, are Liverpool, and they in 15 full seasons have ONLY finished above arsenal 3 times
These are the hard facts, and to say Mr Wenger has lost his way and its time for a change should look at the hard facts. which other manager could continue and consistantly finish above every team that are in the same financial situation. Only 3 times has a club, the same club finished above Arsenal in the same financial situation in 15 seasons,
and where are they now ?
summary :-
Mr Wenger has done an outstanding job in 15 full seasons, winning trophies in for the most part in the first 8 years. only when the
financial toll of the new stadium and the downturn in the economy started to bite hard has success eluded Arsenal and to blame Mr Wenger for the lack of money to say the least is harsh. Arsenal have continued to qualify for the champions league with special thanks to UEFA for changing the format so teams who finish in the top 4 qualifying.
I have one thought, Mr Wenger has continually shown that to give him the same financial backing as any other team he will nearly always finish higher in the league than the opponents, so if Roman Abramovich had brought Arsenal, ploughed millions into the squad, would we be bored of winning things?

What was the purpose of moving to the new stadium? What did the club tell us?stg wrote:Newcastle 1

As much as I like the sentiment the "Wenger Out Brigade Army" just doesn't sit right grammatically. Its right up there with the "PIN number"REB wrote:#WOBARMY

When that name first came into usage I did point that out to Rebel, but would they listen?

Re: Wenger or Van Persie?
Wow!!! Here's some more stats for you stg.......
7 years without winning a sausage;
Not finished in the top 2 since 2005;
Worst club defeat in over 115 years;
Worst European defeat in over 40 years;
The longest spell that any Arsenal manager has gone without winning a trophy;
A worse transfer policy than the Dallas police had back in November 1963;
The worst abuse of a bottle since George Best was at his drinking peak;
I could go on but I think you get the point that we can trade 'achievements' and failures of the past all night long but what matters is the here and now and the question whether Wenger is the right man to take the club forward.

Neither, they can both fuck off.
