Behind closed doors

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Behind closed doors

Post by Nos89 »

A couple of weeks ago friend of mine was fortunate enough to witness a behind closed doors Arsenal 1st team squad play 11 vs 11. He told me a few things;
1) The game was a fully committed match, no holding back in the challenges and as fierce as a game against stoke. To the point were a certain AA23 had to been told by the ref to calm down as he took out two players in quick succession which would've certainly seen himself sent off in a regular match.
2) After an hour RVP just casually walked off because he was tired, not even signalling to Wenger he was going to leave the field of play
3) Alex Song was the best player on the pitch, technically astute and reading of the game.
4) Podolski is also a wonderfully gifted all round footballer
5) Our Jack did not participate in the match, he watched from the sidelines.

I was really pleased to hear about the commitment levels, especially after the claims Clichy made when he went to Citeh. I did find it strange the comments made by Wenger after hearing a first hand account of Song that contradicted Le Boss' words. Just thought I'd share this little glimpse into pre-season Arsenal behind closed doors.

1. We can't even play like we were playing against Stoke actually AGAINST Stoke, so I'm sorry but... :coffeespit:

2. Perhaps that was already agreed? Or he's just a big-time :censored: :)

3. He improved a great deal technically, but I think the reading of the game element being so good can only be put down to the fact that he was playing against 11 other Arsenal morons. :mrgreen:

4. Podolski is gifted yes, but did he do anything special like boot someone in the face?

5. Yes, ok he's not training yet. :?: :|

Arshavin does fly into some tackles but I get the impression its usually because he can't be arsed running anymore
