No 1 at Christmas

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

No 1 at Christmas

Post by proudtosaythatname »

In olden times, when the 78 and 45rpm dinosaurs ruled the earth, to be No 1 record at Christmas was much vaunted. However, it gradually became devalued by commercial manipulation, and finally killed off by monstrosities like Mr Blobby, who was almost as gross as Frank Lumpard. Now in the i-Pod and mp3 era being the best-selling record is worth even less than a Spuds Season Ticket.

Not so in football, thanks to OUR team and, remarkably, Manuel Almunia and St Nicholas Bendtner - where No 1 at Christmas still means a great deal. OK it's a marathon not a sprint blah, blah, but For the next 24 hours, as we munch our way through seemingly unending mounds of turkey flushed down with gallons of booze, across what's left of Planet Earth time will stand still with Arsenal proudly at the pinnacle of the "best league in the world". No 1 in the galaxy.

It's back to business on Wednesday evening but for now to Gooners everywhere...

Happy Christmas

i really really hope im wrong but i still dont think we are strong enough,, now i know we have had a record start but that still only puts us just ahead, i still fear for our goalkeper and lack of killer instinct will come back to haunt us.

but wenger has proved me wrong before so lets hope im looking stupid in may

I've always said if we are still top after the Christmas and NY period we will have some kind of chance, but ACN losing Toure and Eboue we might need a bit extra from other players.

I'm looking to be one of the saddos to post late on xmas morning :(

i said when I first joined this forum that if we were second at Xmas I thought we would be in with a chance as we have a pretty decent jan/feb.
Boy did i get stick for that :?

i still think it but I am really worried by Manure. They're not losing anyone to Africa and are also grinding out results. Its looking more and more like 12th April at OT will be decisive :D

Still a long way to go and loads of ups and downs between now and then. Football, don't you just love it? 8)

Saddo bit over. Off to open the champagne. Merry Xmas everyone.
