Schalke (A) ticket allocation

Post by MK Gould »

"The Club is due to receive an initial allocation of (950 match tickets)....".

Ok, so only an initial allocation but why make me and others sweat for the next week until I get to booking period 5???

Dortmund came at a time when morale was at an all time low, and early in the season so not much time to book. Schalke is so, so close and gooners feeling a little bit more positive so surely 950 - even as an initial allocation - is a joke!?!?

Does seem strange given that the stadium is 53k seated for UEFA games, so allocation should be closer to the 2,000 mark after removing some for segregation... :?

Article 14.06
14.06 All clubs in the competition must make at least 5% of the total capacity of their
stadium available exclusively to visiting supporters, in a segregated, safe
area. In addition, visiting clubs are entitled to purchase up to 200 top-category
tickets (unless otherwise agreed between the two clubs in question) for their
VIP supporters, sponsors, etc. (see Articles 16 and 23 of the UEFA Stadium
Infrastructure Regulations and Article 19 of the UEFA Safety and Security
Regulations).
14.07 Visiting clubs which have requested an allocation of tickets for the whole or
part of the segregated area may return any unused tickets to the home club
without payment up to seven days prior to the match, unless otherwise agreed
by the two clubs in writing. After this deadline the visiting club must pay for the
whole allocation, irrespective of whether all the tickets have been sold.

So in other words Arsenal could simply have taken their whole allocation (2,500?) from the outset and then just returned any that were unsold - without payment - in early November. Why then did they only take 950 to start with....???????

We are entitled to a full allocation of 2,600 tickets. The away fans are split into lower and upper tiers so the 950 tickets are for the lower tier only. As soon as this sells out the remainder of the tickets in the upper tier will go on sale. The precedent for this is the Dortmund fixture where we just about sold out the lower and returned 1200 tickets for the upper last season. The Club fear they will end up with a bill for unsold tickets but with Gelsenkirchen only 6 hours away by road this fixture will have no trouble selling out!

That's what I thought as well until I read the article on dukeys link:

Think you are probably right though that Arsenal do have the larger allocation but that they are filling up a section at a time.

Ok Having been to this stadium before, don't waste money on the £47 tickets as the away section is in the lower tier only.

The reason for the lower price tickets is due to the Perspex segregation wall.If you sit right at the front, with the Perspex walls both sides you will have a great area if you wish to take your drum kit ( Acoustic ) otherwise walk to the back of the away section ( higher up ) and you can see over the Perspex.

We all know we don't sit in the seats marked on our tickets in away European games, although i guess some numpty will want to just like the camp Nou !!!! Should see some small arguments break out on this one ?

So i would not worry on allocation front, Arsenal will take more i guess after only taking 800 to a new stadium in France there are just being cautious ?

The V AND W blocks shaded in white within the red boundary are the £47.50 unrestricted view seats with blocks U and S1 shaded in green being the restricted view ones. Anyone know if the seats within the red boundary in the upper tier are likely to be allocated to us? When UTD played there in the semi-final a few years ago they were allocated both lower and upper tiers.

I've just realised that the tickets section of the Arsenal website has now changed from an "initial allocation of 950 match tickets" to a much more sensible "allocation of 1800 match tickets"..... I understand now what you mean by the difference between the £21 and the £47.50. Earlier on it only mentioned the cheaper price.

Hi Guys, just a quick one.

Do you think I'm in with a shout of getting tickets for this on my silver membership now the allocation has crept up a bit? Got my travel sorted, just need to find a pair of tickets now.

Cheers

In that shaded area within the red boundary there is no Segregation. People who buy seats in the dotted green bit will be able to walk into block V and W.

The price determines that you sit in your allocated seat, and as i said in European away games the fans don't do that ?

I think at Dortmund they had 2 ticket prices last year as well. There were some restricted view seats in Montpellier I am not sure if they were sold as them as I went to a space and quickly realized you couldn't see both goals so moved on to a much better view.

I hope this goes to red members as I am meant to be going with a red member to this game, I guess this is the one group game alot of fans will want to goto. As it is so close and the middle game so unlike Montpellier people have time to arrange travel/time off work.

From that link a season ticket is cheap there compared to the premier league, cheap compared to the championship as well.

Curious. We have a BIG Flag we want to put up for the game?

Isit possible with the Perspex glass at the front and the sides of the stand? or isit worth getting the £47.. cheaper the better for us though!

any feedback would be appreciated...

Marseille was the middle game last year. Fairly easy to get to as well....but still under 1,000. Guess the difference this time is that it is an easy one to drive to as well. Difficult one to predict though. Some people will still prefer to save their money for the knock out phase.

Crazy, the club should be trying to provide every oppurtunity for fans to get to games. Especially for grounds the tea may not play at again for many years. We have one of the biggest fanbases in Europe, an allocation of 950 is almost offensive :banghead:
