From here to New Year
Taking up the cudgels from chippy's first 10 game thread, I am asking for fellow Arsenal supporters predictions as to where we shall be in the PL come the new year? Especially end of January.
Considering beer cup, champs lge, FA cup fixtures and Prem lge games after the defeat to the PL league leaders, I want to ask where in the league you consider us to be after the fixtures at the end of Jan?
10 Sat NOV H Fulham
17 Sat NOV H Tottenham Hotspur
24 Sat NOV A Aston Villa
28 Wed NOV A Everton
01 Sat DEC H Swansea
08 Sat DEC H W.B.A.
17 Mon DEC A Reading
22 Sat DEC A Wigan Athletic
26 Wed DEC H West Ham United
29 Sat DEC H Newcastle United
01 Tue JAN A Southampton
13 Sun JAN H Manchester City
20 Sun JAN A Chelsea
30 Wed JAN H Liverpool
An acknowledgement to chippy for setting up a poll. I'm going to vote that we shall be in the top three at the minimum and exceeding our target for 'our seasons (virtual) cup'. (I've set the poll up, Chippy)
Eight home games and six away games (of which seven homes and four aways are wins on paper) I EXPECT us to be challenging for honours.
I want and predict (loosly) 29-35 points from these games

We'll be 15-20 points off the lead, but within 3 points of the Virtual Trophy, so that means we won't need to buy anyone in January because we'll be on target to achieve the board's ambition

Cannot see us in top four.
Fifth to seventh by first round of FA Cup in January.
Think it will need January purchases to break into top four this season.

Where will the sale of Walcott fit into this?QuartzGooner wrote:Think it will need January purchases to break into top four this season.

I reckon he wants to stay and he will stay for a couple of seasons yet.Dan_85 wrote:Where will the sale of Walcott fit into this?QuartzGooner wrote:Think it will need January purchases to break into top four this season.
My guess is the club know he is needed whilst Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gnabry develop; neither of those two can be used every game at their age.
The club also knows Walcott has marketing value higher than many other players.
A deal will be thrashed out.
The talk of Zaha is no sure thing, would we really sell Walcott for £5M in January and buy unproven Zaha for £15M - £20M?
Re: From here to New Year
I reckon Theo will be off soon to the victims.
Otherwise I dont see why Wenger hasn't been starting him. Hes been trying out Rambo in that position. He knows the OX or Gerv or even Arseshavin (who by all accounts should be the one to go but he cant get rid of him) can all play there.
So Theo off and no replacement because in Wengerball we already have players for that position.

That is what get's my goat.
Walcott valued at £5m and people clamouring for the bloke to be a weekly starter?
FFS. His valuation says it all really. People want us to pay him £100k p/w for five years? Get a fucking grip. I implore you.

What pisses me off is that Wenger is prepared to send out a weaker first 11 just to seemingly spite Walcott & prove a point in his vendetta against him for not signing a new contract. Once again he puts his own pride & ego before the team.armchair supporter wrote:I reckon Theo will be off soon to the victims.

I'm not the biggest fan of Theo by any means but he offers the pace that we quite obviously lacked today & whether he's signing a new contract or not, whilst he's on your books you should be playing him if you think he can make a difference. OK, he played 120 mins in the week but he's hardly played a lot in the weeks before that & must surely offer more than Ramsey, the Welsh Denilson?

I think we'll be looking at around 24 points from now untill City, I think we'll drop points when we play Everton, Wigan and possibly Shammers at home. There could even be a stalemate against Fulham next week if we don't put today behind us quickly. How far away we are from 4th will depend on how the scum and Everton do, Steveo is spot on we'll be 15 - 20 points off top.

I think we'll be 4th by January, and 4th at the end of the season - with or without additional signings.

Yep we'll scrape into 4th and keep Wenger in his job yet again
