Gary Neville

Post by supergeorgegraham »

Gary Neville :
I was disappointed with Arsenal and I was disappointed for them. I spent my whole career competing with them for trophies; when you said their name, you automatically thought championship contenders. Not now, judging by the manner of their performance at Old Trafford. When I think of the great Arsenal teams under Arsene Wenger, I can’t think of one player who started at Old Trafford who would get into them."

Great words :)

Neville is only saying what all of us have been saying for years.Only Sagna would get anywhere near the Invincible team

In 2004 we had 5 world class players Cole PV4 Pires DB10 and TH14

In the last 8 years we have had only Cesc who could be called world class

Not sure, would of thought Wilshere would've got a look in to.

Absolutely!

Sorry donaldo, but RvP was (and is) clearly world class. I don't see how anyone can think otherwise, to be honest :?

I like Neville. In his book he lists the 1998 Arsenal side as the best one he ever faced domestically - better than the Invincibles and the modern Chelsea teams.

Strangely enough as well as the technical skill he mentions a couple of strange qualities called 'pace' and 'strength'. I remember those qualities too

My next door neighbour is a plastic Manc. Normally he gives me bundles when we've lost but when I'm bumped into him yesterday he was almost apologetic. "Its just a bit sad really isn't it" is all he offered up. The Mancs used to genuinely enjoy the rivalry with us. I don't think they can believe what a bunch of no-marks we've become so quickly

I dunno... is a player "world class" because he delivered ONE outstanding season in 8 years? Don't get me wrong, RVP is a top class player with fantastic technique and ability (for a kúnt), but I think to be "world class" you have to do it year after year, like (in no particular order) Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp, Maldini, Ladyboy :censored: , PlatiniCunt :censored: , Schmeichel, Giggs, etc etc - there has to be consistent high quality performances over a period of years, not months... :?

If RVP is still playing and scoring like he is now (and did last year) consistently for the next 3 or 4 years then I'd say he is truly world class. But still a judas kúnt.

Would you or JD put him in the invincibles team though?

RVP is not world class , look at him in Euro 2012 , a couple of good seasons scoring loads of goals but he doesnt score that many more league goals than say Darren Bent (look back over 5 seasons)

No, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Henry and Bergkamp were superb together.

But RvP is good enough to play in a title winning team like the invincibles. Definitely. And I see no reason why, under different circumstances, Henry and RvP couldn't make an unbelievable strike force. It would be different than Henry/Bergkamp, and the goals would no doubt be more evenly distributed, but they're certainly good enough to play together in a title winning team. Don't see why not.

No he would not get in the team. he'd be a bench warmer at best. Not sour grapes but would not drop TH14/DB10 for that injury prone c**t.

Cazorla,Jack,Arteta(bench warmer),Mertesacker(back up for big Sol/Keown) The rest would barely make the reserves of 03/04.

Usually if we had a kak weekend I get the piss ripped out of me at work, today however it seemed more sympathetic in nature. Just general agreement that we can't compete with the Mancs or Chelsea anymore :( sadly our board and manager are too highly strung to care as long as the profits keep rolling in.
