2012 - The Good and The Bad
2012 - The Good and The Bad
OK, the year's not quite up yet so there's a possibility that a memorable game against Newcastle (either way) could end up on the list but I'll take it for granted that it won't !
2012 - the year that was, top 3 highs and worst 3 lows. My top 3:
1. Two 5-2 wins over the Scummers - having had to endure the Redknapp media *****-a-thon and all that mind the gap nonsense watching those *word censored* implode and give up on the non-England manager was just fucking priceless
2. For one half of the year watching us have one of the best strikers in world football. Haven't enjoyed one man's performances so consistently in the shirt since the days of the Invincibles (with an honourable mention for Cesc)
3. Beating City 1-0 at the Bowl and giving them some proper shit afterwards and everyone doing that Poznan celebration.
The 3 lows:
1. Chelsea winning the Champions League - still can't think of a worse moment in football ever. I know some on here are still nursing hangovers after celebrating for a month but I still have to turn off the telly everytime I see it
2. Losing 4-0 in Milan. If ever there was confirmation we'll never ever get close again in this bloated competition that was it. Won the group and then rolled over with some of the most pathetic defending I've ever witnessed
3. That fat Brazilian fuckwit showing the club the ultimate insult at half time at OT by swapping shirts with Van Persie coupled with his manager then coming out and saying how 'serious' he is as a player. Fuck off Santos
To be honest the second list had many more contenders than the first !

Re: 2012 - The Good and The Bad
1.) Final day of the season.
OK, we did not win the league, and 4th is not a trophy (though it is more essential than the domestic Cups) but it was exciting!
2.) Wilshere returning from injury to really good form.
3.) Sagna recovering from a second leg break to good form.
1.) Continued racism in UK and world football.
2.) RvP leaving but not being adequately replaced.
3.) The continued PR waffle from Wenger.

Highs
1) the 5-2's, though the first time was sweeter
2) OT this season, loved that while their mute fans sat there nearly all off us was singing "she said no". I fucking hate the Judas *word censored* so it was great. By the way, anyone see that Swansea player kick the ball in his head today? That got me hard
3) Henry's return.
Lows
1) Judas being sold to manure, not yet being injured and still being alive
2) Wenger not yet being sacked
3) No replacement for RvCnut

Re: 2012 - The Good and The Bad
No point repeating the ones already posted so I'll just add that getting rid of Song would be right up there amongst the highs for me. Sometimes I forget he ever existed, until someone mentions his name and then I get a magical feeling in my special place at the thought that he's finally gone. It's a sad state of affairs that flogging him was genuinely probably the most excited I've felt about any of our transfer dealings (in or out) in years.
Re: 2012 - The Good and The Bad
Yes sadly my joy at this was more short lived as I allowed myself to think (stupidly) that Lord Wenger might then use the over inflated price we got for him to go and sign a beast of a midfielder to improve the squad further, but of course he chose to take one of our best offensive players from last year and turn him into a holding player insteadIts Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:No point repeating the ones already posted so I'll just add that getting rid of Song would be right up there amongst the highs for me. To be honest, given the choice between selling Song and not replacing him or keeping Song I'd still have gone for option 1 every time.SteveO 35 wrote:Yes sadly my joy at this was more short lived as I allowed myself to think (stupidly) that Lord Wenger might then use the over inflated price we got for him to go and sign a beast of a midfielder to improve the squad further, but of course he chose to take one of our best offensive players from last year and turn him into a holding player insteadIts Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:No point repeating the ones already posted so I'll just add that getting rid of Song would be right up there amongst the highs for me. Re: 2012 - The Good and The Bad
I can't really think of many highs, the highs that have been mentioned above just means, sadly, that Wenger's job is a little bit more safer, I think the showing of the banners was a high for me, having contributed to the main one financially and in the wording of it. Every year that goes by with Wenger still at the helm depresses me further and I feel a bit like Rodders that his overdue demise is now beginning to consume me but when he does go I'm going on one hell of a bender.

Short lived with me also, as Wenger put all his eggs in his basket by not getting a replacement but instead looked at 'internal solutions' and championed your idol, Diaby instead...SteveO 35 wrote:Yes sadly my joy at this was more short lived as I allowed myself to think (stupidly) that Lord Wenger might then use the over inflated price we got for him to go and sign a beast of a midfielder to improve the squad further, but of course he chose to take one of our best offensive players from last year and turn him into a holding player insteadIts Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:No point repeating the ones already posted so I'll just add that getting rid of Song would be right up there amongst the highs for me. Different position my friend. Abou is not a defensive midfielderfranksav63 wrote:Short lived with me also, as Wenger put all his eggs in his basket by not getting a replacement but instead looked at 'internal solutions' and championed your idol, Diaby instead...SteveO 35 wrote:Yes sadly my joy at this was more short lived as I allowed myself to think (stupidly) that Lord Wenger might then use the over inflated price we got for him to go and sign a beast of a midfielder to improve the squad further, but of course he chose to take one of our best offensive players from last year and turn him into a holding player insteadIts Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:No point repeating the ones already posted so I'll just add that getting rid of Song would be right up there amongst the highs for me. Re: 2012 - The Good and The Bad
That maybe true to you and I, who haven't worked in football for over 30 years, but didn't Wenger say that the day of the defensive midfield player is dead? again, going for the internal cop out solution? So trusting on Diaby's flakey fitness record, alongside changing Arteta's role?SteveO 35 wrote:Different position my friend. I think I've filed that comment in the box marked "captaincy is overplayed" and "there are two transfer markets in which we operate - one internal and one external"

HIGHS
1. Spurs' capitulation between being 2-0 up at our place and mid-May.
2. Wilshere coming back and showing his class straight away, as well as displaying that he actually gives a fuck. Don't know why he's signed a new contract but hopefully the club sorts itself out because otherwise it's a matter of when he leaves to better himself, not if.
3. Henry's goal against Leeds. Meant fuck all in the long run and he's a shadow of the player he was but that memory will live with me forever, it seemed so surreal.
LOWS
Genuinely very very difficult to narrow this down to only 3 moments.
1. Chelsea winning the CL. Absolutely sickening.
2. Shamelessly elling the best striker in Europe and our best player to United.
3. Our annual OT humiliation, which made the point of how far we've fallen more powerfully than ever.. Didn't even nearly score until stoppage time, lucky not to ship in 8 again, and that Judas wanker was embarrassed by how shit we are. Santos conduct towards him was sickening and Wenger's wasn't much better.
