Song - Worst signing of the season in Spain

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Song - Worst signing of the season in Spain

Post by TeeCee »

Ok one of the TWO worst signings of the season. It can't be any surprise to Gooners, most of us knew he was shite and not good enough for Arsenal let alone Barca!! They got a bit carried away with signing players from us and got caught with a dud. It might make them think twice about coming to us for players in future!!    :barscarf: :barscarf:

No surprise at all, one of the most bizarre signings I've ever seen.

Also glad that Modric isn't living up to the wild billings and expectations afforded to him by Spurs fans.

Selling him, especially for £15m, has been my favourite Arsenal moment in recent seasons :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Bit harsh Rebel?

I was in favour of his sale, but in his defence:

Strong tackler, made powerful forward runs that contributed decent passes to the striker or the odd goal.
When he stayed in his own half he was a useful defensive midfielder.

But gave away too many fouls, and his venturing forward was too often paired with a failure to resume a defensive position quickly enough, leaving a hole that the opposition exploited.

See!!! You all have a go at AW, but what you don't know is that part of the Cesc deal was that Barca would come back and pay us ten times what Sheepshead Song was worth. In July they're going to but Squillaci for 10mil.

Bit of a contradiction there methinks quartz 8)

None whatsoever Augie.

Physically strong player, powerful tackler.

But too often for a top flight professional he was not clinical enough and would get too much of the man and so give away a foul.

A couple of Hollywood assists aside, he was fucking wank and wanted to punch him whenever I saw his hunched over "couldn't give a shit" style of play.

Glad i will (hopefully) never see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

£15 mill  :barscarf:
