Champions League Games 12/13 Feb

Post by northbank123 »

Celtic 0-3 Juventus: "It's sad to say but I think Celtic's journey in the Champions League may be over". Careful sticking your neck out there Pat Nevin! Sounded like Celtic gave it a bit of a go but you can never trust the media for a balanced assessment of a European game at Park Head.

Valencia 0-2 PSG.

lesson learned from today's games: do not concede a goal in your home match - no need to play naifly and go forward at all costs - a 0-0 draw at home in the first leg might just turn out to be a good result. :rubchin:

Last minute goal pegs PSG back to 2-1. Ibrahimovich sent off too.

The sending off was an absolute joke. Never in a million years was it a red card but good old bent UEFA refs, eh.

Didn't hear any comments about the self proclaimed "greatest fans in the world" heading for the exits at 0-3 :rubchin:
All those empty seats at full time looked like a green Emirates

Technically, celtic were given an absolute footballing lesson tonight - energy, passion and commitment can only get you so far especially against a team like juve whose ball retention was superb 8)
That being said, what went on at corners tonight was an absolute disgrace - we all know that wrestling tactics juve used go on at every match and I know that the ref has a really tough job to see what is going sometimes.....but this fcuking ref did see it and bottled making the proper decisions  Hooper in particular was assaulted at every corner for having the cheek to stand in front of buffon and the ref seen it and decided to book both players   :x Until a ref steps in and awards a penalty for that crap then we will continue to witness defenders dragging opponents to the ground and there was no way a ref was gonna make that decision against mighty juve :(

Augie if defenders fouling on corners and set pieces was properly punished then players like Carvalho wouldn't have been held in half the high regard they are today.

I know but when does uefa say enough is enough ? I have suggested for a long time that one way of preventing that going on is to allow each team to have no more than 4 outfield players in the penalty area for corners - I know that is sounds a bit left field but surely rule makers can see that what goes on at corners shouldnt be part of the game and sometimes 6 officials wouldnt be able to see all the shit going on in those crowded penalty area's

Until the ball is in play the ref can't give a pelanty (Chris Waddle speak) as play isn't live.

However I agree that usually defenders are hugely guilty of impdeeding the attackers and that something needs to be done as quite frankly its a disgrace, but along with diving, feigning injury to get opponents booked etc is now just one more reason why football is going to hell in a handcart. :(

Juventus really are a quality side. A world class striker short of being one of the best in Europe IMO. Fancy them to go pretty far this year.

He's injured again. Didn't they say he was unfit when he joined them

They've got one already in Llorente who's signed a pre-contract. Not in Falcao/Messi/Ronaldo class but in that rapist,Suarez class.

Just watch the game hoping for multiple red cards, done hammies and Mourinho to get banned from football for a year for being an all round pr**k.
