What Matters More?
The two will probably go hand in hand, but which is more important to you?

I don't care about the top 4, what's the point of qualifying for something you have no chance or even intentions of winning? Its all about the cash for the club..... We've qualified for 16 years in a row, the first few season we underachieved then we went through a spell were we had real chances to win it but since 2006 we have slipped further and further back and now have less chance of winning it than the first few years..... Fuck the money men
I detest sp*rs and their supporters more than anything in life so finishing above them matters

Part of the 'between rock and a hard place we Gooners have been finding ourselves in with regards our beloved Arsenal' is that as long as we keep qualifying for the CL, a trophy the present (dumbed down) squad will NEVER Win....then the status quo of the board and wenger remain and they will do nothing to change the Kerrrchingggg flow of the money into their coffers...BUT if we don't have the £25 - £35 mill coming in from CL qualification - they may begin to realise the cash cow is beginning to falter....So it HAS TO BE finish above the scum above all else...thing is we used to do that without breaking into a sweat once upon a time - Before the move to the bowl and the new 'financial project' and the profit before trophies approach' AND before fans became customers...
The sad thing is I don't think we can finish above the scum this season....
we iz fucked....and for me the ONLY 'positive' of such a thing happening, is that maybe, just maybe Wenger will leave.

Re: What Matters More?
im with flash on this 1 besides from the money what else have we got to look forward to,same shit every year start well in the group stages need another win to quarantee qualifying for next round, wenger then decides to rest players in few remaining group games instead of going for the win, then we shit bricks hoping we qualify for the knockout stages, then finish 2nd in the group end up playing bayern as per last night but if we had topped group we would be playing galatasray add water and then repeat every season.
I reckon a season out of europe might not be the worse thing in the world
As for finishing above the scum is tht how far we have fallen, cant win trophies so the only thing we have to crow about is oh yeah we finish above the scum, there was a time when they were irrelevant because we were competing for trophies. So in saying tht i go for option 2

I don't mean any offence to you barriecuda but I'm quite bored of these hypothetical questions that seem to go hand in hand with supporting Arsenal these days. Call me old fashioned but all I want is for Arsenal to win every single game we play. That probably classifies me as a superfan or a wum with some of the locals around here but there ya go

Isn't that what we all want? and why does it make you a superfan or a wum?LDB wrote:I don't mean any offence to you barriecuda but I'm quite bored of these hypothetical questions that seem to go hand in hand with supporting Arsenal these days. Tongue in cheek comment aimed at the likes of N1goon and sid to name a couple who seem to enjoy the silver lining to us losing. I just dont see the point in these questions, I want us to win every game so obviously i want us to finish ahead of the scum and as high up the table as possible. Likewise I want us to win every cup competition so when I'm asked whether I want to win a cup or finish top 4 it just makes me want to punch said person in the penis.flash gunner wrote:Isn't that what we all want? and why does it make you a superfan or a wum?LDB wrote:I don't mean any offence to you barriecuda but I'm quite bored of these hypothetical questions that seem to go hand in hand with supporting Arsenal these days. Re: What Matters More?
look we all want to win every game but at the mo we are utter shit,so cant/wont win every game, winning every game would mean wenger would stay in charge which if we were winning then wenger being boss wouldnt matter as we'd be winning, the whole wanting us to lose only goes with wanting wenger out,if we were winning all the time we wouldnt want him out.if we had a change of manager who turned things around then no way on earth would any of us want us to lose.the whole not caring if we lose is only a wenger out thing,it doesnt make you a weird cretin or not a proper supporter, its just about speeding up the changes we need so desperatelyLDB wrote:Tongue in cheek comment aimed at the likes of N1goon and sid to name a couple who seem to enjoy the silver lining to us losing. Re: What Matters More?
It's a no brainer really.
I voted for option 2. We need all the cash and prestige that this competion brings. If we are going to be able to compete with the much wealthier clubs then it is vital that we have this ever increasing bank balance. It will allow us, one day, perhaps in a decade or so, to attract and pay for the very best talent out there. So long as we can finish in the top four year in, year out, it doesn't really matter that we are not competitive in the CL, but it is vital that we are in it.
Besides, we always finish above the toilet. A freak season here and there from them is the best they can wish for.

Re: What Matters More?
has to be finish above them, however smalltime it makes us sound.
this is so sad that we have a question like this.
i fear even when aw goes, we wont get back to where we were (we will get nearer, to where we when hes gone i feel under a new manager or 2, dont get me wrong) whilst wiggy remains in control. when wenger goes, wiggy will still impose a certain glass ceiling over any future managers to stop us ever competing at the very top table.
football has changed, we need a sugar daddy, plain and simple, cos if we dont others will increasingly so and we will fall even further behind.

Nailed on there Flash. However do we really think matters will change. If the money still rolls in......flash gunner wrote:I don't care about the top 4, what's the point of qualifying for something you have no chance or even intentions of winning? carry on dear!
Re: What Matters More?
Finishing above the vermin.
Could care less about the champions league. Hope Everton get it, ape boy gets an injury leading to a scum collapse. We finish 5th and they 6th.
But ideally it would be...
3.Everton
4.The Arsenal
5.Abramowich Fc
6.Scum...
Now that would be nice

So you voted champions league evn though you think it's a waste of time and the extra income doesn't change the direction of our team.mcdowell42 wrote:im with flash on this 1 besides from the money what else have we got to look forward to,same shit every year start well in the group stages need another win to quarantee qualifying for next round, wenger then decides to rest players in few remaining group games instead of going for the win, then we shit bricks hoping we qualify for the knockout stages, then finish 2nd in the group end up playing bayern as per last night but if we had topped group we would be playing galatasray add water and then repeat every season.

It doesn't make us small time wanting to finish above our local and closest rivals does it ?
We are not in the same league as the billionaire FC's and Manure. The scum are at about our level and possibly Everton when they paly out of their skin. We can aspire to be like the current top 3 all we want but while Curly,Moe and Larry are running the show we won't
