Banana Boy - Were Laws Really 'Bent'?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

An individual has today been arrested and charged following the throwing of a missile during Arsenal's against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday, March 3.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Friday that a male was interviewed at Tottenham Police Station and subsequently charged under Section 2 of the Football Offences Act and Section 5 of the Public Order Act, and has been bailed to attend Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on April 12, 2013.

Pending the outcome of proceedings, if found guilty, the individual will also receive a stadium ban from Arsenal Football Club.

This action has only been possible due to the close cooperation between the Metropolitan Police, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Arsenal FC.

I feel sick reading that...it is our our club's official website. i feel as angry about this as I do about our pathetic season. He threw a banana at Bale..so fucking what. Thousands of fans up and down the country sing the "chimp song", are they to be banned? Or the ones who sing the Wenger song. . This guy is an Arsenal fan, he done something as a joke, some may find it offensive but it wasn't racist or homophobic. It was a fucking joke. I cannot believe Arsenal have put that on their website.

Don't give a fuck if it was stupid, don't give a fuck about how it could be used racially against another player. It was light-hearted and amusing, how many times have we seen West Ham fans launch coins at an opposition player, United fans invade the pitch after a late goal or any number of fans sing songs about Wenger being a paedo?

Luckily for them their clubs aren't hellbent on stitching them up. That tiny molehill has well and truly become a mountain, congrats Arsenal plc. So fucking needless.

As I said before, if a chance to discipline a gooner presents itself, this club won't miss it.

The contempt this club has towards its own fans is simply remarkable. Just watch the way Wenker and his cronies treat the fans as a case in point.

I mean this is an Arsenal fan taunting a scum player. For crying out loud. But they're so eager to punish him for what is a nothing incident in the large scheme of things. Bale didn't look in the least bit annoyed by it either.

I keep getting more and more disillusioned with this club with each passing day. I can't relate to what we've become now.

This club currently is more concerned with trivial shit like disciplining its own fans than attempting to actually win a fucking trophy for once.

Fuck Arsenal 2013.

He threw a banana for fuck sake....think the football authorities and the police need to take a good hard look at themselves!!! Anyway, what about all the chavs who threw celery (at least I think it was celery) at Arsenal players during the League Cup Final in Cardiff...? Any arrests made? Any lifetime bans...? Like fuck!!

Fuck Arsenal 2013.

Absolutely agree that we (Arsene FC ) have got the wrong priorities.

Mind you, we couldn't let him get away with it as he might just go and open up a hat shop in Italy or something and where would we be then ??

I guarantee you the CPS and Police will seek a football banning order against this individual.

If successful he will be banned from venturing into LB's of Islington and Haringey on match days.

When England are playing abroad he will have to hand his passport in.

He is going to be royally fucked over and made an example of.

The judicial system will be stacked against him but hopefully he is up for clearing his name.

He will need a decent legal team behind him.

is this true? That can't be legal..?
It's insane - what happens if somebody is put on the sex offenders register FFS? this sounds more hardcore
there has to be some kind of fan backlash to this, he needs backing

on a side note - could they ban somebody from a borough they live in?

No - in that case they are banned from entering a zone encompassing 1.5miles from the ground.

What happens if you live on the Holloway road?

I live by Highbury Corner, less than a mile away...

It's totally crazy wherever somebody lives.
Are people on the sex offenders register allowed within 1.5 miles of a school?
You don't get a genuine life sentence for murder
but a Gooner can be banned for life for some marginally excessive banter??

I'm genuinely shocked by this - we should be supporting this guy...
