How Many Matches Have You Enjoyed Watching This Season?

Post by I Hate Hleb »

I for one can count them on the fingers of one hand - if that!!

Also, how many games have we actually played well in, regardless of the result? :rubchin: Maybe it's old age related memory failure creeping in but I genuinely can't remember a season in the past 30 odd where we have so often failed to play well or where the fare on offer in terms of attraction has been so parsimoniously delivered. :rubchin:

Always nice to win but really enjoyed? Probably Spurs, Southampton, Liverpool and City (even though Gervinho drove me mental in the last one). Can't remember any others.

Not many  - our football has been very dull at times and the sideways rubbish we often produce, with little sign of an end product, is maddening.

We lack a world class match winner to give us excitement and entertainment. We're too slow and predictable.

I did enjoy the Citeh and Liverpool away games though. After that, our season - and spark - fizzled out :( the West Brom away game was also very tense and nerve racking... but that was borne more out of our incompetence than quality

Enjoyed? Definitely less than 5. How many "comfortable" games have we had too? ie where we're not desperately clinging on to a slim lead and you feel like you're gonna have a heart attack/shit yourself too. Gotta be less than 5 again.

It could happen!

I am going for a high score though, think 4-3.

very few. the management has been so poor all season. we've had what ? - one win against the top six ? two against the top 7 ?

i guess the spuds game, newcastle, soton, west ham thrashings but then i didn't get the same joy over our 'style' of play that i used to. its all so dull, predictable and dire - a bit like our 'managers' substitution policy.

for me any joy over the arrival of pod, giroud and nacho has been offset by the fading of carzola, vermaelen and Ox. only walcott seemed to push on this year out of the whole squad...

too many players played out of position or not good enough for us, no tactics, no preparation, no coaching.

then there are the losses to bradford, blackburn, schalke, olympiakos, bayern, norwich and swansea.

we have won exactly 26 games out of 50 in all competitions this season - in the league manu have won 27 out of 36, we've won just 19 out of 36.

we are just no longer value for money. and the manager is piss poor and delusional. hence the ST is getting the Spanish Archer.

and then there's the mickey mouse crest (who else has binned their traditional club crest for a cartoon - anyone ?) and the awful blue away shirts instead of yellow and blue, AND we play at a soulless bowl instead of The Home of Football.

If i sound depressed about it, well I am.

My Arsenal has gone :cussing:

I enjoyed Liverpool 0-2 Arsenal & Arsenal 5-2 Spurs.

I have to admit, I did also enjoy Reading 5-7 Arsenal towards the end :barscarf:

Less than 5 because yet again Magoo persists with this tedious 4-5-1 that results in too many games like yesterday where we are treated to an England friendly style performance, with boring, slow sideways passing and what seems like an eternity without a shot worthy of the name. Some truly awful games that fall under this category: Schalke (h), Norwich (a), Southampton (a), QPR (h + a), Swansea (h), Blackburn (h), Bradford (a).......truly mind-numbingly boring shite.

I would say probably Spurs (h), 25 mins of West Ham (h), Newcastle (h), Liverpool (a) and part of Southampton (h)

If we include the cups probably a couple more in the Capital One (obviously Reading) and that's it

To be honest, the only Arsenal games I really enjoy are the ones where we trash a team convincingly. Even though I enjoy victorious North London Derbies and tight affairs where we nick a goal, they aren't really enjoyable throughout the game, more an explosion of emotions when a goal goes in or at the final whistle. Am usually a bag of nerves through (yesterday being another example of this)

So with that in mind there have been very few....Southampton at home, Reading at home, Coventry in the League Cup...can't think of any others.

Was very pleased with the performance with Spurs at home, Liverpool away, Bayern away and Man City away but I wouldn't say they were necessary enjoyable throughout due to the nature of the game.

Talking about enjoyable games, this one ranks with the very best of them...meaningless end of season game, but an absolute joy to watch.

Our results in the league have actually been remarkably good considering how few really good performances we've seen. There have been lots of backs-to-the-wall one nil away wins in games that would have been much more routine in years past. But likewise there have been tight wins that would have been draws or losses before. I've enjoyed these wins alot although only after the final whistle, actually watching them is torture. Yesterday was the first win that I didn't even enjoy at the final whistle.

We have come woefully short against top 6 sides but imo its not because our play is all bad but because we've lacked a decent striker. Even Giroud's biggest supporters can't argue that he's done enough against the better sides. Even if we don't make top 4 the biggest disappointment this season has been our shocking, meek and humiliating exits from the domestic cups.

The 5-2 against the scum and the 7-3 against the barcodes spring to mind but other than that it has been a bit of a slog

This for me, I find it agonising. Yesterday shouldn't have been so stressful but it was as was, Sunderland final 20mins,Baggies ditto,Canaries at home,Stoke at home,Fulham home and away.

All of them we won, should've won by a canter or stupidly drew but could have lost.

Every single one of them with fast play and being ruthless we've cut the opposition and then not gone on and finished them off. Then we all know what's coming defensive f'up and it's frantic defending.

1st half of the season it was mainly at the back we were letting ourselves down but now it's goalscorers. The defence are having to work really hard because we stop just cutting the opposition apart up front and suddenly sink into that useless tippy tappy sh*t sideways b****cks, lose the ball after over commiting players then get f**ked on the counter.

Rewind and press play.
