Seems a rash decision. Perhaps he could have been given another 6-7 years to sort it out? :| :|

He's off to Monaco. From one billionaire's play thing to another's. Modern football is bollocks.

can't just reward failure year after year. Look at Chelsea, on the verge of more European success and City want a piece of that winning action.

Inevitable. He knew it too despite his poor attempts at bravado. Tbh the writing was probably on the wall before the FA Cup final but that really put the final nail in his coffin.

City haven't been playing well enough for a season and a half now. The eventual league table last year masked the fact that City haven't got near the heights of the first half of the 2011/12 season under Mancini, but there was no repeat of even a title challenge that would mitigate another dismal European failure. To not win one group game and end up with a record lowest points total in CL from an English team (probably by a fair way) is a disgrace. Mancini doesn't seem to know how to get that form back unless Kompany, Silva, Aguero and Toure all hit top form simultaneously - and other than Kompany the other three have been very patchy in comparison to last season. The whining and excuses were wearing thin.

They're looking forward and not back, and although Mancini delivered their first two trophies for a long long time there are other managers with a far better chance of delivering more in the near future.

Someone famous once said "It is easier to win the title than retain it".
Well, if they didn't say it they should have.

But did the losses of Balotelli and De Jong significantly weaken them?

Think that the fewer games played by Yaya Toure in comparison to last season was more of a problem, and Aguero has not been as good as last season.

They should've improved the side. Even if you win - even if you're the best in the world - you still have to try to become better. Look at Bayern. They might win the treble this season and still the bought Goetze and probably will buy Lewandowski.
City bought some players in the summer but did they buy quality? Imo they didn't sign a single player who was good enough to improve them and that was the problem.

Two clubs that will remain classless are City and Chelsea. For all the cash they have burned they hardly set the world on fire. Never will such a dull team as Chelsea get the luck to win the Champ League. Not only have they burnt money on the useless Torres they also want to burn money on the over rated Rooney.
City over paid ex Arsenal tossers lol
