Manager Stats
The managers of last years PL, CL, Fa Cup and League Cup winners have all been sacked.
60 of the 92 league club managers will have been in the job less than a year come Sunday evening.
Thats quite an amazing stat when you think about it, and then becomes not so amazing when you think of how football is now, Reading and Saints both sacked their managers despite those managers saving those clubs and getting them to the premier league.
No sentiment when going for success?
Football now just about money?
Both?

Re: Manager Stats
It is rather incredible that it seems to be the case but it is perhaps a mirror of the way many things are with the apparent need for instant gratification and also because everyone is doing it so whay not us? It is short-termism in the extreme in one of the few areas where money to some seems to be of neither consequence nor obstacle. So in answer to your question it is that, on the whole, it would be mainly about money and instant gratification - or searching for it anyway.Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:The managers of last years PL, CL, Fa Cup and League Cup winners have all been sacked.

Re: Manager Stats
It's absolutely crazy. A year isn't anything like long enough for a manager to make an impact - if you've got an underperforming, defensive minded manager and bring in a more attack minded manager, you quite possibly need a major overhaul of the squad, plus it takes players a while to get up to speed with a new way of playing. Then they might need to overhaul the scouting network, change the coaching system etc, its very hard to tell after one year if they're having success or not.
It's quite baffling tbh, a lot of these owners have been very successful in business and, presumably, have managed to build their companies from the bottom up, you'd think they'd realise that chopping and changing management is often counterproductive and certainly it doesn't reflect well on the person who appointed them - if a chairman looks at all the applicants, interviews a selection and chooses "his man" then he really, if he has any balls about him, shouldn't be changing his mind within 12 or even 24 months of the man being appointed. Managers should always get at least 3 years before being judged imo.
That being said the managers won't care, they get a big contract and, if they fail or are removed too quickly, they get their contracts paid up and get another job on a big salary again. Maybe part of the reason for the high turnover rates is due to the lack of genuinely qualified managers in the game, its almost all just ex-players and tbh the skill set required to be a professional footballer (ability to shoot, cross etc) is almost totally different from that required to be a manager (ability to motivate players, manage finances, set a whole team up tactically, agree coaching methods etc).

Moyes has NEVER taken three points away @ Highbury/Grove, OT, The Bridge or Anfield.

Re: Manager Stats
Today's result, although meaningless, will only serve to increase the speculation on how Moyes will do at United over the summer. Papers will be full of how he needs to sort out United's defensive problems and the Rooney situation.Top Londoner wrote:Bendtners Drinking Buddy wrote:I didnt realise Fergie didnt win anything in his first 5 years.....appreciate the game has changed....but will Moyes get as long?
