from my memory once Edu had found his feet he became a really great player for us.losing viera in 05 for me wasnt the biggest blow, viera was want away anyway and his final seasons performances hadnt mirrored earlier ones, the big killer was losing Edu at the same time, both were hard to replace,in fact we still havent replaced anybody from that era effectively, only one Arsene Wenker :banghead:

Edu was a fantastic player. My vivid memory of him was when he scored a pen against Everton in his last game for us and then burst to tears as he celebrated in front of the North Bank. Such a class act.

Good bloke, good player. Not fantastic. Shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as PV4.

Was allowed to leave by the club who would not pay him what he thought he was worth ,about $45 k a week .
I remember his debut ,he arrived from Brazil on the Wednesday and on Saturday he gets brought on as a sub with temps of minus 5 degrees at Leicester and pulled a muscle with 10 mins and had to come off !
He was a great player a leader and had vision and like with flamini shouldn't have been allowed to go for Zero but Edelman screwed them up Bigtime !

Yeah, I was at Leicester for Edu's short-lived debut match, remember that well.

But my best memory of him was him tearing off his shirt and banging on the glass screen at the San Siro after scoring against Inter in 2003. Showed me he really cared. Was booked for it, naturally.

A graceful footballer who always played with a smile on his face.

Without touching on the glaring negativity that allowed him to leave and so many others who were worth the extra bit of wages ......

I loved EDU and was in the north bank for that game against everton, i clearly remember the crowd singing
"we want 6" when it was at 5-0 and subsequently "we want 7" when it was 6-0 .... great game of football im so glad edu scored his penalty lol.

seem to remember GOD churning out an EPIC FLAWLESS display that day as well....

Think it was Celta Vigo away??? when he scored a beauty with his right foot. Loved his passion for the shirt, never gave anyhting less than 100%. A good lad as they say.

Looking at the rest of that list, it amazes me why people think most stats are boll**ks. In Edu's case I think no but Sidwell

Ah yes, back in the day if we had one midfielder injured of Gilberto, Pires, or Vieira, Edu or Parlour could step in and do a class job. Or Campbell/Toure were croaked and Keown would come in and marshall the troops. Bergkamp/Henry were out and Wiltord could come in and bag a goal. Not like now where we're an injury away from Gervinho starting on the flanks!

Remember Edu coming in at the end of 01/02 and did a sound job in Pires place....such a tidy player and not afraid to give it some when needed.

Great player imo, and was treated really bad by the club in the end up.

good neat and tidy type of player, always thought of him as a squad player though.
