Confederations Cup 2013

Post by QuartzGooner »

Anyone see Spain vs Uruguay?

Spain's passing was excellent.

Cesc did not look happy when substituted by Cazorla.

Yep, was something of an exhibition by the Spaniards. Am sort of looking forward to them meeting Tahiti on Thursday... might be a goal or two.

It's the winners of each confederations' cup (clue's in the name  )

They won the OFC (Oceania) Nations Cup. I guess Spain qualify in their capacity as WC champions hence Italy as European Championship runners-up have taken Europe's spot.

Just looked. They won the 2012 Oceania Nations Cup, which qualifies them apparently. 6 confederation cup holders plus hosts plus fifa world cup winners making 8 teams.

10 nil and the biggest cheer of the whole tourney so far when Torres misses the penalty :)

They are rightly favourites to do so but that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen that way. It only needs one below par performance against a good side for them to get eliminated before accomplishing what some see as a near certainty.

The Nigeria v Spain game's a bit boring, Spaniards winning but was only made interesting at half time as football continued to show just how classy it is.

Gus Poyet only found out he was being sacked by a tweet by the club's official sight whilst summarising the game in the studio for the Beeb

Don't know the ins and outs/right and wrongs but surely no one deseves to find out they've been sacked like that :o
