As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
A resounding no for me.
He is far to entwined within the fabric of the club now, a manager should be answerable to the board not dictating to the board how the club should be run. I fear if he signs another contract we will just continue on the same path that we have been treading for the past few seasons, he has his own idealistic agenda and he will not be swayed from that in any way.
As I am resigned that he will be here for another season, if he signs a new contract and we don't do the necessary things to properly challenge, then I am chucking in my season ticket. I can't stomach another season of the race to the 4th place trophy.
Watching this transfer window go by like we have in the past tells me that from a negotiating perspective, Wenger is a massive hindrance and actually is holding the team back. Look at Dortmund, Klopp sells players and gains massive profits, like Wenger, but he also isn't afraid to immediately replace those players, unlike Dear Leader.
I think that if this transfer window comes and goes without significant improvements, even the most hardened AKB will have to question the logic of a new contract.
No fucking way. None of this 'give him one more year', 'I'm sure he's learnt the error of his ways', 'let's see how he gets on this year' bollocks. Just tell the stubborn old sod to fuck off next summer.
No contract til May, no excuses. Trophy or bust. Don't care if the midseason form is great or poor, give him one full season and make the contract dependent on results.
We are at least stuck with him until the end of this season. So it should be at the very least a title challenge or a trophy for a contract. To show improvement on the 4th place nonsense and that we're heading in the right direction and not stagnating/regressing, especially now it's public knowledge we've got a shed load of money to spend. No excuses.
