Been reading the story about the kid who had his wrist broken at the Real Madrid vs Bournemouth friendly. A wayward shot from Ronaldo broke the kids wrist after he raised his hands to protect his face. It's reported he did this as his dad ducked out the way of hurtling football. If you were at a game with your child/ niece / nephew and a ball came your way would you duck out the way????

Yeah a few years ago I was warming our goalkeeper up with some shooting practice and dislocated his finger, it was at a strange old angle and he asked me if I could straighten it out, well I had done first aid so gave it a go, after about 3 minutes of pulling at his finger and trying to push it back straight he went as white as a ghost and said he was going to throw up (pussy ) I gave up, looks fucking easy on casualty but trust me there must be a knack to it

playing a match many years ago we were missing our regular keeper but one of the lads had brought along his mate to play in goal. He assured us that the guy was good and we would be in "safe hands" with him.
During the warm up the stand in keeper astonished us all by saying " I don't like saving shots as it hurts my hands " Don't think he played for us again.
As for getting out of the way of a shot, it was probably instinct by the father to duck , but in years to come it will be a nice story.

Happened to me up the park about 3 years ago, got just a finger to a shot, tipped it around the post and broke my finger.
