Chimp Watch - Transfer Confirmed
So for once, its a spud player that is the main transfer speculation this summer. As I said in a previous thread spuds have to sell to help fund the redevelopment of their ground. I can see RM offering serious bunce for the primate. What do others think?

PS apologies if there is a general transfer thread

Re: Chimp Watch
One thing's for sure, Daniel Levy has a face that you could never stop punching.
Reminds me of that smug, smarmy nerdy kid at school who's dad worked for Apple or some shit, so had all the latest gadgets but everyone thought he was a twat and liked to flush his head down the toilet.
His face at full time in May as they missed out on CL yet again was fucking priceless.

I thought it was really strange for Pleat to say Bale was "too young" to play abroad
- he's 24 ffs!
I just find Pleats comments ludicrous. Why shouldn't a 24 year old be able to move abroad? - everyone else does it, regardless of their background. European football is built on players moving oversea's - all other European nations have players littered across Europe; the African's have managed it, the South Americans, and even some from Asia. Hell, you now have Brazilians doing well in Russia! - why can't a Brit manage it?
And when you look at how many ex-pats we have around the world, it's daft that this ridiculous "ooh, Brits can't move abroad" bollocks still persists.
Just because Pleat doesn't like the idea of living abroad, doesn't mean the rest of us can't manage it. Bloody dinosaur!

Re: Chimp Watch
I was also going to start a thread/poll on whether monkey man fcuks off to madrid - to be honest I am sick to the teeth of discussing who we should buy and all the anger and frustration that we aint buying
From the ape's point of view he knows that this might be his only chance at a move to the biggest club in the world (yes manc b**tards they are bigger than you). Even if you dismiss the astronomical wages that he will be on there, it is very hard to ignore the better lifestyle, weather etc that he will get in spain.
From the scum's point of view the money on offer must be very tempting - if reports are to be believed, madrid are offering somewhere between £85m-£85m + a player although I would be amazed if any of madrids top players like di maria agree to join the swamp dwellers. Would it make more sense to sell the c.unt for that money and then use the money to buy 2 top strikers and another couple of players ?
Personally I think that they should but wont sell

Re: Chimp Watch
I think he'll jump at the chance, not sure how actively he'd push it through though. What does staying at Spurs do for him? He's already proven he can be the big fish in a small pond and his stock's never going to be higher than now. I hardly think the opportunity to help them scrape 4th is going to be a big sway compared to the chance to sign for Madrid and do what very few British players have done in succeeding abroad. Let's be honest - there's a glass ceiling dangling just above Spurs. They simply can't compete with the top 4 in terms of revenue and it would be miraculous if they even manage one tilt at the title in the next decade. He's going to leave eventually - from his perspective I don't see why it's worth sticking around for another season.
I don't think the media have helped Levy much. All the talk is of £80-85m bid. What if Madrid bid £65m and it's clear Bale wants to go? Imo that's more than a fair price but Levy will get slammed if he sells him at that price now. Also I don't doubt Spurs would want a part-exchange but what Madrid players are really going to want to go there?

Re: Chimp Watch
I think it is a no nonsense and very straightforward decision to make
1. Does he want to continue to play in the football equivalent of a toilet for a club doomed to always be se en as classless and second best when compared "The Arsenal"
2. PLay for one of the biggest football set ups in Europe get paid more and play in a ground that is anything but a toilet
simples
ps: Yes, I know he looks like an extra out of Planet of the Apes...but nothing not even the finest plastic surgeon on the planet is going to change that so he might as well play for a decent club on twice his present salary and not have to endure speniing at least 90 minutes in a toilet every fortnight.
simples x 2

Re: Chimp Watch
I think it is a no brainer for all concerned that Bale moves to Real Madrid, or another rich foreign club or even UK club.
He was player of the season, his time is now.
If his form drops this season he will not be worth as much in wages or transfer fee.
So as a player you move, and as his Chairman, with an expensive new ground to fund in a time of recession, you sell.
As for Daniel Levy, whilst I always want to finish above Spurs, and I would have no problem with Spurs being relegated (as long as we could beat them in a Cup now and then!), I actually think he seems more dynamic than our board do at times, and goes out and gets players early in the window.
Very moot point if their last summer's signings Siggurdsson, Dempsey, Vertonghen and Dembele ended up being more effective than our Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla but I think we were actually in discussions with Vertonghen who is a good player, but Spurs got him and we did not.

Re: Chimp Watch
Seems to me that Bale's decision is as obvious as Van Persie's was.
If you want to win trophies, leave. If you want to play with better, world class players, leave.
If you're happy to only win individual honours (golden boot, player of the year, etc.) and be a big fish in a little bowl, then stay.
Yeah, the fans will probably boo him if he leaves (just as we booed RVP), but ultimately, does it matter? - he only has one career, so why not make the most of it? few people ever get that chance. Grasp it while you can.
Bale should go to Real Madrid.

Re: Chimp Watch
He is. Unlike that lot on our board, I believe he's also a genuine spurs fan? And therefore as a result, is also a massive *word censored*.QuartzGooner wrote:As for Daniel Levy, whilst I always want to finish above Spurs, and I would have no problem with Spurs being relegated (as long as we could beat them in a Cup now and then!), I actually think he seems more dynamic than our board do at times, and goes out and gets players early in the window.

Yes but unlike our lot he will hold out for the very best price , look at the Modric deal , must have been near on 32 mill , either way i think it was more than we got for Cesc.Dan_85 wrote:He is. Agreed he puts his money where his mouth is...and yes he is a *word censored*...whereas our board are also all a bunch of *word censored* but for different reasons than he is...Dan_85 wrote:He is. Re: Chimp Watch
After having David Pleat saying he was too young to move away, one of BBC's top stories at the moment is "Real move no problem for Bale" by John Hartson. Unbelievable.

Re: Chimp Watch
Who better than David Pleat to edumacate us all on how to negotiate a transfer as the window winds down?
Evening everybody.
Evening everybody.

Re: Chimp Watch
If anybody has the opportunity of moving out of Tottenham take it!
As for Pleat, How can 24 be too young to move? Just cos owen flopped doesn't mean Bale will. If there is something bale does not lack it's confidence, i'm sure he will relish the chance.
John Hartson knows whats up!
