What do you make of this?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What do you make of this?

Post by Dan_85 »

After AG's snitch by text service, the Kick It Out group have now released a mobile app for reporting abuse.

http://fsf.org.uk/latest-news/view/kick ... at-grounds

I'm not in anyway advocating racism, sexism or any of those other -ism's but it feels like society is moving more and more towards this grassing up mentality. If I see or hear someone saying something out of place at footy I generally just tend to think they're a bit of a knob, I don't feel obliged to report them to the authorities. Is that just me?

Surely there are gonna be people who can take offence at almost anything people say. What I might not consider offensive, someone else might and grass me up as a result?

Opens a can of worms this I think...

Most people will either say nothing or have a word with someone who is winding them up.
You can always have a word with a steward too.
Small amount of people would use an app or a text service.

The method of reporting is irrelevant to me, it all comes down to whether a steward decides one way or the other or calls the police.

Whilst the principle of the app is admirable, surely it's open to abuse itself. Drunk mates using it as a joke, a pissed off fan sitting in the same row as someone who continually gets up and goes for food during matches and how about fans just fed up with telling someone else just to sit down.
It'll cause more trouble than it is worth and won't wean out those who are racial, sectarian, homophobic abusive towards players.

More busy-body waffle designed to look nice rather then actually achieve anything. So we report it to kick it out who then talk to the club? Why not just report it to the club, cut out the middle man or better yet, the police? Do I report the old blokes sat behind me who slag off "French Africans" and if I do does Clarke Carlisle appear in the bat mobile? I will doff my cap if this app is responsible for bringing justice in one case of proper abuse.

But whatever, these groups like to be seen to be doing "something" and since this is highly unlikely to effect me they can make all the apps they like.

BBC reported the news along some comments from Emily Davison complaining about lack of diversification in football and expressly stating we should give preference to ethnic minority candidates for jobs in football.

"Play like a girl" and "you're gay"?

Spade and shitstabber aren't on there so presumably they still fly :barscarf:

Also "man up" is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm amazed "man up" is on their list... is that offensive to anyone? :? and if it is, well... quite frankly, they need to man up

Also, considering it's Liverpool, why hasn't Suarez' favourite word for Evra made the list? - I know it's basically just spanish for something else on the list, but I'm not sure he's bright enough to connect the dots? :rubchin: :?

Not kidding you but I took my son for a driving lesson tonight and while he was attempting a 3 point turn (seriously he shouldn't drive really   ) I saw a magpie and saluted it thinking he hadn't seen me, well as I have passed on my superstitions he immediately noticed and looked over at where I was looking and saluted it too and nearly put the car in a hedge  :?

I guess that rules out Lars Bender's move to Liverpool  And it also looks like Stewart Downing will be leaving the club

Brilliant!

One presumes new FA Chairman Greg Dyke will be barred from visiting them?

I also guess that Liverpool's fixture list will have to spell Manchester United, if they put Man U it will look like someone has literally taken the p.
