1st game of the season plans...
1st game of the season plans...
I'm frustrated reading (non) transfer news and bored at work so...
What are your plans for the 1st game of the season (it's not a chat up, just to pass time)?
Mine might go like this I think:
Wife and children are away on hols in Dublin (visiting relatives), so I'm going to go to my local at midday..ish,meet my mate, get the train at 1..ish (couple of travellers), have a couple or so in Tollington maybe, meet my Dad, toodle down to the ground at 2.50pm...ish eating chips or a pie, bottle of cider at half time, pint somewhere on the way back to Finsbury Park maybe, back to the local, beer till I'm full, kebab...

Not bothering going! To see the same overpaid, useless and gutless *word censored* fills me with a deep depression! They can all fuck off I hate everyone of them!

Re: 1st game of the season plans...
Get up, realise it's the first day of the football season and the squad is threadbare, there are no decent new signings and Wanker is still in charge. Then, go back to bed and fall asleep until late May 2014.
Re: 1st game of the season plans...
Get up late, have a full English breakfast in a café. Go home and think about whether I can be bothered to try and find a stream to watch the game. Watch about an hour of it before deciding it's s**t and am glad that they ain't getting my money any more. Then watch teletext for the other results, which will not have gone well. Have a ruby in the evening and try to pretend I don't care anymore.

Early start for me, reckon to get to the ground around11 ish, I need to get to the armoury and buy my new away shirt, can't make up my mind should I go for Rooney, suarez or higuian. Think I might play safe and go for Barry bender 52. Hope to get a glimpse of our master as he goes by on the bus. I will be the one singing thre is one arsene wenger in my best French accent. Into the ground by 1, just got to take advantage of the cheap beer and food offers. Buy my programme, probably get two as there is sure to be so much information about our new quality signings. In my seat by two to watch the boys warm up. You see I've been and bought myself an I pad, and it takes photos you know. I learnt that from the people all around me last season, I've seen them catching up with corrie during the game as well. Half time bovril and back in for the second half. No leaving before the end for me, I just hope the lads do a lap of honour. Out onto the concourse and spend more of my hard earned cash on beer and pizza. In all fairness this will be my 46th season of going, the first game of the season used to be a major event, now I couldn't care less. We've been sold down the river. The only money the club gets out of me is my seat price. Out of principle I won't spend another penny on anything to do with the club.

Very easily indeed! All down to Wenger for the way I feel about this Arsenal team at the momentI just don't care anymore, and that feeling will stay until he eventually goes!g88ner wrote:How can anyone hate Cazorla, Arteta and Jack?franksav63 wrote:Not bothering going! Remember the old days of the first game of the season? The build up over the weeks......looking forward to seeing the new signings.......Back to the regular boozer (Plimsoll) to meet up with all the old faces......into the game and the lush green of HIghbury in August.......wondering how long we could go unbeaten?......seems like a long time ago!

I can understand apathy, but not hate by association. That's just mental.franksav63 wrote:Very easily indeed! I don't think it's Wenger's fault you can't make the distinction between Wenger and Cazorla. They're completely different people frank, and Santi comes across as very likeable to me. You can't tar everyone associated with the club with the same brush.
If so, where does it end?

Re: 1st game of the season plans...
Used to absolutely love first day of the season - the sun, the optimism, the excitement...
Right now I wish the season wasn't starting again. After Groundhog Window it's time for Groundhog Season, and wondering whether or not we can make it to the end of August before we show just how far off the pace we are.
I'm going to a Carribbean Festival with mates to get absolutely cunted - probably end up checking the score every 2 minutes unless I manage to get so ruined so early that I spend the day convinced I'm either Brian Lara or Bob Marley.
The only silver lining is that this will hopefully be the last time we'll have to through another Wenger train wreck of an off/pre-season.

Re: 1st game of the season plans...
Bloody heck this place gets more depressing by the hour ffs.
I am looking forward to first day and my plans will be much as usual for me. Brief train trip, walk to ground via a pub (actually have been promised use of a real glass by a barman for first game - hate plastic things, dunno about others but I'm sure they change the taste of beer). May stay there for a couple may move on - depending who I may have spoken too between now and then regarding meeting for a beer etc. Burger or somesuch from one of the stalls outside ground. Into ground - meet familiar faces from couple months ago. Say "hello you old c.unt" "alright mate, how'd your summer go?" and similar such things to various folk. The odd 'nod' that one gives to folk you may have rarely if ever spoken to but see fortnightly. See some smiles, some miserable downturned resigned expressions, the odd shake of hands, the odd mumble of "here we fuc.king go again, dunno why I come" the occasional "this year I think we might do something". Enter into debate - where I sit, assuming they are all returning and I imagine they will, there is an eclectic mixture of folk with varying views and takes on what is right, what is wrong - how much of a c.nut or lovegod Arsene is - which players are not worthy of the shirt, which will "no doubt get injured/be sold/crash a car". ultimately the game will start and we will watch and shout and cheer and curse and the game will end and we will have won lost or drawn and each of us will set off for home with our varying opinions either a little challenged or reinforced by what we saw. We will be miserable or elated or perhaps accepting and will generally say to each other (accompanied by the various nods, mumbles, smiles etc) "see you next game". And the next game we will see each other and so it goes on and, however frustrating it can be, has been, will be, most will continue to do so - I certainly will.
So, those are my plans anyway...
