Ok, I know I'm probably in for some abuse with this topic, as plenty of people out there are totally against replica shirts. But in my defence I don't think I've ever bought one myself, as my birthday is in September my family tend to just buy me one when they can't think of anything else to get me.

Anyway, the 10-11 home kit was, I though, a really classy modern strip. It was basic and as close to being a replica of our greatest strip, in my opinion, the classic red and white that we won the '71 double in. Sadly I washed it today and the 'Fly Emirates' logo has cracked and peeled away.

I know that this was a problem back with the 07-08 strip, so it might just have been the way I've washed it, but has anyone else had this problem? It's a bit of a joke when you think how much these tops cost now! Then again, I'm beginning to think it looks slightly better with the garish sponsorship logo faded away.

Shoddy workmanship eh? One really expects better of a product made by children in the Far East The only top i've had where the Emirates sponsor hasn't peeled off is the yellow 08/09 one - seems to be a thicker, more substantial printing type on that one.

That said, the 10/11 home shirt was the last one I bought. Not really one for wearing replica kits these days and i'm trying to cut back on how much money I give the club anyway.

I know, you think they'd work harder and provide more quality to justify the 10p an hour they get! Ridiculous work ethic.

For upwards of £50 you'd expect it to last a few washes before it started falling apart really. Ah well, as I said they probably all look much better with the sponsorship faded away, less corporate and all that.

I know what you mean about not giving the club any money. I even told my family not to buy me another one, but they went and did it anyway with the away strip for this season. I think I'll stick to my '71 vintage!

I had the kit too - absolutely loved it and wanted to wear it every day as a kid. Good job it was before squad numbers and names on shirts otherwise I'd have had Chapman printed on the back. Would be worth a bomb these days now that we've got his lovechild at centre forward !

I got the same problem, also with the 10-11 home shirt. In June I was in London and I got the mighty number 10 printed on the back of the shirt. I asked the guy in the club store if he could do something about the 'Fly Emirates' text that was starting to peel off. So he just put the shirt under the machine they use for shirt printing and that worked very well. It looks like a new kit now!
