The What Was The Point of Viviano Signing Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

But seriously I'm glad that we've signed a goalkeeper. We've needed a third senior GK since selling Mannone.

I don't rate Cheney too highly so hope this bloke is good enough to take the number 1 shirt off him :barscarf:

Never really heard of him tbh - is he any good? Would Cesar have been better?

Much needed back-up but imo we need a number 1. Szczesny cost us far too many goals last season and as soon as he gets comfortable again in a few weeks will start charging out of his box and flapping round all over the shop again.

Personally think it was a dreadful decision not to sign Lloris last year and criminal not to nick Cesar for next to nothing this summer.

Don't know, but probably because they're in Serie B and the player feels he's too good to play at that level? - either that or his wages are incompatible with a Serie B club?

He was out on a loan last season too. He was playing for Fiorentina and they finished fourth

I think PSG's Sirigu is ahead of him. Viviano wasn't called up to the Confederations Cup either.

Wenger in the statement on Arsenal's website - "he provides us with excellent cover to our existing goalkeepers".

He could be the love child of Dino Zoff and Lev Yashin - doesn't matter if he doesn't play.
