AC Milan's Kaka 'asks not to be paid' while injured

AC Milan midfielder Kaka has asked to go without pay as he recovers from a thigh injury picked up in his first game since rejoining the Italian side.
The Brazil international, 31, was substituted in the 70th minute of the Rossoneri's 2-2 draw at Torino.
He returned to Milan on a free earlier this month after leaving for Real Madrid for a world-record £56m in 2009.
"I don't want anything from Milan, except for love and support, until I'm fully fit and ready to play," he said.
"For this reason I have decided to suspend my current pay for this period of time. The only thing I ask is for the support and help to recover properly.
"It is a difficult moment but I have started to work on getting better and I hope to get back as quickly as possible."
Kaka added he had spoken "at length" with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and club doctors before deciding to ask not to be paid.
It is not clear whether Milan have accepted the player's offer.
Kaka, the 2007 World Player of the Year, made 268 appearances for Milan between 2003 and 2009, scoring 95 goals. He helped them win the Serie A title in 2004 and the 2007 Champions League.
In 2010, Milan defender Oguchi Onyewu agreed a new one-year deal for no salary after he had spent a year on the sidelines.
In 2004-05, Roma and Italy midfielder Damiano Tommasi played for £1,200 a month while recovering from a serious knee injury.

If our crocks decided to do likewise it would free up enough money for a Messi bid :D

Be careful CE or someone might call for you to be banned for daring to suggest such a thing - even if done in jest!

I know football players careers are - even those not plagued by injuries - are short, but I often think the way some of them - when out with a long term injury - just seem to sit back - or lay back on the treatment table and still rake in the wonga is bad.....a few months maybe - but when it is a continual thing - over a period of 3 - 4 years, then I think that shows their lack of conscience. Some might argue that anyone/everyone else would do the same...I tend to draw an analogy with finding someone's wallet/purse in the street with a wad of cash in it...one person would hand it in/return it...another wouldn't even dream of doing that..

I'm sure Diaby would happily give up 75% of his wage if he could only be injury free and be playing regularly....even so...to make some kind of gesture of recompensing the club - or fans - or a charity associated with the club would probably put him in a far better light for many...

Still as they say...don't judge another till you've walked a mile in their shoes ...or football boots :? :|

Kaka is a quality pro. I really hope he recovers some of his form from his earlier AC Milan career. On his day, he was one of the most devastating midfielders I've ever seen...I recall one match at Old Trafford where he pretty much single handedly destroyed Man Utd :barscarf:

Think he was actually quite underrated personally, turn of pace, quick feet, passing, shooting. If he can get over his injury worries he'll be an absolute steal for Milan.

Kaka's goose is well and truely cooked, he's a has been, end of.

As for peanut head Diaby, couldn't agree more with clockender. One shot gun cartridge and one shotgun should do the trick.

I am sure like any Business, Arsenal has a sick pay scheme, we probably have all the players insured for any injuries, god knows how many claims Wenger has made over the last few years.

I can imagine him sitting in his office, filling out all the claim forms. Probably has a direct line to the claims officer,

I have to disagree worthing_gooner - before Messi and Ronaldo really pulled ahead around 2008 onwards Kaka would always be mentioned when discussing best players in the world, and let's not forget his ridiculous transfer fee. He was a fine footballer on his day but when we played them in 2008 I seem to remember a combination of Flamini and Senderos ensuring he barely got a whiff over 180 minutes.

If only abu COULD walk a mile in his boots without breaking down we wouldnt be talking like this !
Very much doubt if Abu is insured against Injury ,no underwriter would touch him with his track record or the Club as a whole with theirs !
Lets not get too moral abou this he signed a contact that isnt pay for play . Arsenal should have had him on 2 pay scales with his last contract but Wenger doesnt do that !

I dont blame Diaby for being overpaid I blame the club management , I would love to see him get fit and play 20/30 games in a season just once before he retires but I doubt if I ever will .

Has anyone else noticed that SteveO doesn't seem to have realised that his God and masturbation fantasy (or "Diaby" as the rest of us know him) is only still at the club because Arsene Wenger is still at the club? What a conundrum!! SteveO wants Arsene out, but wants Glass Body Diaby to captain us!

SteveO - if Wenger goes, the next manager will make his first piece of business getting rid of Diaby. Or having him put down. Ooooooohhh what a choice! :-P

SteveO replies:

"The new manager, having institued a new fitness and training programme, will see the benefit at once with a fully fit Abou and makes him the Kingpin of Arsenal's midfield. He'll become captain and lead the new Arsenal to title glory, pulling the strings like the master puppeteer he is.

My next barbecue will be in celebration of Abou."
