Holloway Road Tube Station Norwich travel

Post by stevesmiff »

I travel to the Emirates several times a season and always use Highbury & Islington station. I'm going with an elderly relative to the Norwich game and thought I'd try and use Holloway Road Tube Station to save on walking.

I know Holloway Road is affected on Arsenal matchdays but as I've never used it, I don't know to what extent.

Can anyone confirm the exact times the station will be shut before and after the match so I can plan my journey accordingly.

Many thanks

I've found if you get there(HRT) before 2;15pm you are usually ok.

Don't know about after as usually walk to Finsbury park or use the Arsenal tube.

It has lifts to the platforms but trains just pass through and not stop there from about an hour before kick off.

Takes about half an hour after the game for it to re-open from what I remember, but usually I hang around longer after the game so someone else will have to confirm.

Call London Underground on: 0343-222-1234

That's good to know, thanks for both your replies! Was looking at maybe 1:30pm arrival so I should be good then.

I will prob hang about for a good hour after the match so working on the reverse theory that should be enough for them to re-open again.

The trick before the game is to go to Arsenal and cross platforms and go south. It's only closed northbound. It takes a good hour to re-open after the game.

Sounds like a plan - didn't realise it was normal service if coming southbound! I'll prob still be there early enough to avoid the issue but good to know for future reference.

Having a bite to eat after should kill a good hour so guessing I should be fine on waty back as well!

Thanks for your help.

It's probably going to be busier than usual on sat as the Highbury & Islington train station has no trains running all weekend. Don't know about the tube or any knock on effects on Holloway Rd. My travel app is directing me back from holloway rd after 5.30 so might be an idea to check when you get there as to when it's opening after the game.

Where did you get this info? Nothing on TFL or National Rail about Highbury and Islington. :? :? :? :?

That doesn't mean no services from Highbury and Islington, in fact all the important ones are still running including the tube. The big issue is the lack of an escalator (unless it opened this week) which makes getting to the tube a total nightmare.

I believe it is complete: -
Escalator work completed at Highbury & Islington Tube station

09 October 2013

Engineers worked round the clock to complete work as soon as possible - over two months earlier than originally scheduled.
