"We are not at a stage where we have a choice," he said. "For example we play in the Champions League after the FA Cup. If I sacrifice the FA Cup and we go out in the Champions League, then we look stupid."

I think he might actually have a point this year about the fixture congestion but how does he explain the defeat at home to Blackburn at the 5th round stage last season?

interesting to see what team he plays v Liverpool now.

If only there was some time set aside during the season when a manager could bring in more signings to strengthen his squad sufficiently to better cope with fixture congestion ...

I've a feeling there might be you know but no club ever bothers signing anyone because they're put off by "dizzying prices". No "exceptional" players move then either
