Kroenke buys LA stadium plot

Post by clockender1 »

LA newspapers reporting the same holding co that bought the stake in The Arsenal has bought 60 acres in Inglewood, LA, to return the Rams from St. Louis back to LA. with their rented St. Louis stadium now on a year to year lease, wiggy is looking to spend $700million on a new Stadium in LA.

Not even a week after the Puma deal, I think you can guess a) where some of the funds will be coming from and b) what his top priority will be for the next 4-5 years....

as fans we should fight tooth and nail any board decisions to distribute special dividends or load the club up on any Debt to finance this.

That relocation to LA will be fought tooth and nail in the US - the nfl is trying to expand by introducing new NFL franchises and LA was one of it's target areas so moving an existing franchise to LA doesnt aid that policy at all

i dunno about that - they also want a 4th team in socal along with the niners, Raiders and Chargers; and the Rams were the LA Rams originally.

Will he be build a superbowl winning team, or happy to make the playoffs each year, if so I've got a great idea of who could be head coach for the team.

yeah, he could be one of those NFL coaches like Bill Bellicheck who has no GM over him to choose, negotiate and buy players....Bellicheck despite being one of the highest paid coaches and being rated as the best in game, has not won a ring since 2005 - 9 years, sound familiar ? at all ????

He wouldn't even bother turning up to the draft each year, happy with the team he's got, internal solutions and all that, watch as he tries to turn a wide receiver into a quarterback

the NFL are VERY keen to get a 'London Expansion' team in their league to sell more kits in Europe - the Emirates would be perfect for that - 60,000 all seater, family friendly, no history, good public transport....

maybe after wiggy moves the Rams franchise from St Louis back to LA and sells it for a whopping profit, he'll use the proceeds to buy the first European NFL franchise and run it out of the Emirates Stadium, with the soccer club as a side project ?

THAT would be 'awesome'......

From NFL.com -

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell added Friday that the league was kept in the loop of the land purchase.

"Stan (kroenke) is a very large developer, on a global basis," Goodell said. "He has land throughout the country and throughout the world. He has kept us informed of it. We a€™re aware of it. There are no plans, to my knowledge, of a stadium development. Anything that would require a stadium development would require multiple votes of the membership."

This is what I am referring to - any individual or group wishing to relocate a franchise has to get permission to do so from the league and that isn't as straight forward as it might seem. Other owners might be hesitant to support moving a franchise into, what is currently, their catchment area both from a sponsorship and fans recruitment point of view. That being said, the fact that the rams lease in their current stadium expires next season, could make it easier to get that relocation granted although often these moves by owners are just a bluff to force the local state to fund their stadium refurbishment. It is well known that there is suggestions within the nfl, to start 2 new franchises in London and LA in the future and commissioner Goodell suggested that London would be the priority market although I think he was just saying what he feels the uk fanbase want to hear

I am not even remotely a fan of wiggy, but there is not one shred of evidence that we will be used in any way to finance any other deal. He has never taken a penny in dividends.

The blokes a gazillionaire with massive resources, of which we are just a tiny proportion.
