http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... t-rejectedArsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski has revealed he has turned down a new deal and plans to leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old's current contract runs out this summer and, with Polish compatriot Wojciech Szczesny firmly installed as Arsene Wenger's number one, he feels the time is right to leave.
Fabianski is keen to press his international claims, with Szczesny again standing in his way, and he feels the only way he can do that is to be a regular starter at club level.
He has only made four appearances for the Gunners so far this season, two apiece in the Capital One Cup and FA Cup.
"I want to be number one in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods," Fabianski is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.
"With biggest respect to this great club, I didn't accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad."
He may not be the only major departure from the Emirates Stadium this summer with Bacary Sagna also out of contract and reportedly receiving interest from Chelsea and Manchester City as well as a host of European clubs.
Wenger admitted before the 5-1 defeat by Liverpool on Saturday that the right-back could leave for free in the summer, with his desire for a long-term extension and a pay rise making it tough to agree new terms.
"When I say I expect, it's more that I want (him to stay)," said Wenger. "I hope that in the end I am right. We are not close at the moment.
"He wants to keep his options open, because he is at the end of a contract. It is an important contract for him. He is 31 years old. I can understand.
"I'm not alright with that because I would like him to sign just now but I have to accept it. It is his freedom - the decision belongs to him.
"We are always in negotiations with him and we try always to be fair with him. I believe his future is here and any other decision would be wrong.

Re: Fabianski - Leaving
Lots more of these negative slant stories to swallow this week till we win a game again, hopefully convincingly
No offence flappy but Bye bye and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Though you'd probably flap at that too.
Wouldn't mind getting Stekellenburg as competiton for Ches when Fulham get relegated in May.

Brings me back to the question......why play him ahead of viviano if we intend to properly assess the Italian ?
if the manager and coaching team have already decided, without playing a first team game, that flaps is better than viviano then why did we sign him and who the fcuk scouted him ??

Doesn't anyone else think the strangest part of this story is that we actually offered Flappy a new contract?
Why?

He proved unquestionably by the end of 2009/10 that even before considering ability he was far too much of a coward to make it at this level - the goals he was conceding were embarrassing because he was terrified every time a cross came into the box. I remember Samba heading in for Blackburn from about 3 yards out because Flappy was too terrified of contact to come off his line, and in the same week or so dropping a corner onto Titus Bramble's head at Wigan as we managed to throw away a 2-0 lead to lose.
Unbelievable that despite the lack of contrary evidence since then Wenger has kept him and still wants to keep him at the club. What has he got on Wenger????
Re: Fabianski - Leaving
Good luck to him. Hope he succeeds in the Championship or somewhere abroad.

Re: Fabianski - Leaving
He is simply another name on the long list of shit/ordinary/crap/poor/average players that Arsene has persisted with long past the point where even Adrian Chiles could open his fat retarded eyes and see they were (in some cases) just not good enough to wear The Arsenal jersey or (in other cases) cataclysmically shite.
I wonder how much Flappy has actually been paid over the last 7 years by being quite poor at his job?
If he is on £20K a week (possible, but knowing Arsene, probably a very conservative estimate!
) then he has been paid approx £7million. Run that number through your brains a couple times, kids. £7million. Even if we use an extremely conservative estimate of say only £10K a week he has been paid at least £3.5million... for repeatedly being not good enough at his job... astonishing really.
