As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Yeah it is only shirt sales and you probably don't care, but it looks like this. There was me thinking we'd sell as many as spuds and chelski put together. this is through 'kitbag' sales, which I believe is linked with sports direct and is one of the biggest kit selling company in the world.
Kitbag.com is one retailer that will have a fractional share of the global market and whose customers will probably have certain buying trends that will skew the data.
In other news, the Brighton and Hove Albion FC club shop have announced that based on their sales data, Brighton are the biggest shirt sellers in the world
Have to say that I doubt if there is a club or country in the world that is selling as many shirts as barca - everywhere I turn I see kids wearing one of their shirts
Have to say that there is more to this than just popularity - for starters we have had so many shit jersies in recent seasons that even stevie wonder wouldn't wear them ( ) but also I know a lot of fans who refuse to buy any merchandise from afc plc cos of the resentment between the fans and the club
The problem is, although our fanbase worldwide is huge (much much bigger than Sp*rs) I'd imagine many of those markets (Africa, Asia, etc) don't buy official shirts and go for cheap knock-offs and other types of apparel.
I know when I've visited South America and Asia, most people show their allegiance to a club with fake shirts and tracksuit tops with the club badge on. Not many (if any) official shirts were on show.
Maybe kits sales is more of an indicator of European/North American sales? (even then, I can't see Sp*rs outselling us)
A football jersey doesn't a fan make...if you judged football support on shirts purchased /worn the Man Utd's support has just halved..in Dublin anyway.

Our kit designers/marketers are specialists in failure.
The price of replica shirts is ridiculous.
A lot of the fans I know (mostly shirt collectors, admittedly) buy player spec shirts as they're cheaper now.
EDIT: This doesn't include shirt sales through the club shop does it?
