FA CUP TRADE OFF POLL

Post by goonersid »

I'm honestly not trying to wind any one up here and this poll is directed only at those who want Wenger out, as obviously the outcome of our FA cup challenge has no bearing on those who want him to stay regardless.
Whilst like all long suffering gooners, I would love to win the FA cup, (unlike the carling cup which I couldn't have given a flying fuck about) my problem is that if we win it then I fear another 2 or 3 years of Wenger is unavoidable. And him winning it then quitting on a high just aint going to happen.
And I am under no illusion that it may be unavoidable even if Wigan were to spank us 6-0, but if you were given a cast iron assurance that Wenger would quit if we don't win the FA cup would you be willing to make that trade off.
For me it's a no brainer.

No way would I sacrifice a major honour right now, 2 years of wenger is well worth it if it means we end this jinx. hopefully there aren't too many that will disagree

I'm interested to hear why you you think this. Vanity? Naive belief that he can kick on and win a double or the CL next season?

I personally wouldn't trade an FA Cup for anything except possibly avoiding relegation.

No.

I want the FA Cup this season. As fans the biggest joy is winning trophies (well it is for most of us anyway!?), having a great day/piss up at or watching the final and the memories of that staying with you forever. It's been too long since we have had that feeling.

Irrelevant poll given that the board couldn't give a fuck about winning the cup when it comes to renewing Wenger's contract

I can never cheer against us, so nope cup success all the way for me

I agree with your sentiments. but after so long without a trophy, what difference would one more season make, and think of looking forward to next season, with old man Wenker not in the dugout. That would fill me with joy and allow the club to move on

id sacrifice winning the cup, champions league football and my right nut if it meant we could get rid of the idiot that is our manager right now,how anybody thinks that winning the cup will right the wrongs is beyond me,i know if we lose and wenger goes aint gonna happen but in an ideal world which is what we are talking about for me its a no brainer.we will never ever ever win the league while he remains in charge let alone the champions league, the latter being an utter farce to be honest, why qualify for a competition you have no real interest in winning year after year, nothing nothing nothing will change by winning the fa cup, cant understand why peeps would prefer 90 mins at Wembley then put up with another few years of total dross, capitulation, humiliation, stagnent, meandering, meaningless football rather than see a fresh forward thinking manger at the helm taking us forward and putting us back where the Arsenal belong

Wait so we moan about a lack of trophies and when we are presented with an option to win 1 we actually vote to not win a trophy? I think this board is hysteric and needs to calm the fuck down.

I'm interested to know why you think Wenger wouldn't quit on a high. Apologies if that wasn't clear.

Because he is an egotistical power mad control freak, who earns 7 million quid a year for scraping a fourth place finish. Yet in the darkest recesses of his mind he actually believes that he can win the clge and the plge, with a team of largely second rate footballers and no tactics.

Simply have to win it given the quality of opposition left so I'd be delighted to win it and see the old duffer bow out. Knowing us though, we'll lose the semi.

Win or lose the final and I honestly don't think it'll make any difference as to whether Wenger stays on though.

Yes, most definitely, I've even given my semi-final ticket up I can't bear to be there, yesterday I do believe that Chelsea eased up after 6 just to keep Wenger here a bit longer, I actually wanted more to go in, surely even he would have walked had it been 9 or 10-0? :?
