Arsenal vs. New York Red Bulls, July 26th

Post by gp543 »

Glad to have the club over in the states, particularly special that it'll be against TH14. Long way away, but anyone who needs advice on travel/anything USA-related, please get in touch.

I've been to Red Bull Arena a few times, it's a decent ground, small, but better than our NFL stadiums with plastic pitches.

yeah, the Red Bull arena is in NJ but is just a hop from NYC.

is it confirmed that the game is at the Arena and not the Metlife ?

the Arena is only 25,000 attendance....

I can't see us making the final. Not without Diaby.

Some of us will need all the time in the world to forget the impending misery from this season, let alone look ahead to a pre-season friendly

Still, I'm sure Kroenke will be knocking one out over 'Team Arsenal' being branded across the States

We'll have the new Henry i.e. Akpom in our line up and the likes of Zelalem, Olsson etc. What a waste of time

The game will be Arsenal's only match outside Europe this summer.
Anybody else surprised by that?

Yes. It's at Red Bull Arena. I'm actually quite pleased it's there versus watching in a cavernous NFL stadium. You think you can't see shit at St. James Park. Try being upper deck at Metlife!

It's a 20 minute train ride from downtown manhattan, stadium has its own dedicated station. Drink in the city (Blind Pig at 14th & 2nd is Arsenal NYC branch home bar) and take the train. Shorter trip than it was to the Allianz in Munich.

Was in upper tier for giants v raiders game this season and the view from where I was (behind the endzone) was quite good I thought 8) It certainly was a lot better than the upper tier in the souless bowl

Traditionally he has more respect for the foreign fans than those who attend every week so he might have been more willing to take your views on board :x

Got to say, I'm pretty chuffed for this. Barnet vs Arsenal used to be my habitual local pre-season friendly. Now I've got this to look forward to 8)
